Google told me about a site, www.justlikethat.homestead.com
It also mentioned a couple of vids and their sizes, one being misers dream. However when I go to the site I cannot find any videos. There is a picture of Tommy holding a pail which may be from his Misers Dream. Or it could be just before a rubber chicken falls out of the sky into the bucket. One never knows with Tommy. I have written to the contact on the site and I will relay his/her reply here. I'm a tad excited. |

Oh dear. This is embarrassing, The clip was there all the time. Talk about dodgy puter skills!
Sheesh. Anywho, here's a link. It's only a short clip. Tiny actually but worth a look. I have again written to,the contact trying to find out where he found the clip and if the routine continues or is that it? I'll post again when I find out http://justlikethat.homestead.com/Misers_dream_NEW.rm |

Hey mmmario!
Not to panic! You did find it, and passed it along! THANK YOU! The pic. WAS a bit "fuzzy", but, it DID appear to show the honorable Mr. Cooper doing the MD (in his own inimitable style!). I remember seeing Geoffrey Buckingham in 1950, at the IBM convention! Mr B. did a much "classier" routine. The magicians were enthralled (!) with his extremely skillful performance. (I think he back p*lmed about 12 coins!) Here comes the "but"!) But, in retrospect, I doubt that the "civilians" (non magicians;) who had bought a ticket were ENTERTAINED. It was a demonstration of great skill, appreciated mainly by many of the magicians, who wished that they could do what Mr. B. was doing. As a teenager, I learned the DOWNS p*lm (with both hands) and was trying to be suave and debonair (at 18!). I wasn't. The magicians at the Ring thought I was a "god". It "took" an agent to tell me to "make 'em laugh". I listened to the agent. He got me work!

I have a lot of Tommy Cooper memories, I remember once in the pub near the old Magic Circle when it was in Chenies Mews he set fire to the curtains while he was demonstrating an idea he had dreampt up.

Ray, Tommy Cooper was an Welsh comedy magician who achieved national acclaim in the UK. He died over thirty years ago, yet is still a household name.
Here is a clip of his HATS routine, written for him by Val Andrews. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IqXaSrYr74 |

There will never be another one like him. He was just a natural comedian.
