In a manipulation act, how do you carry cards around? What kind of holders do you use? I tried looking for those McBride uses which he mentioned in his videos but I can't find them! I have a long black coat with two deep pockets at the sides and two inverted pockets at the rear. These are normal pockets but their mouth point downwards instead of upwards. It is meant for me to pull stuff out from there but I'm looking for the best way to hold cards around me. Any ideas? Nielsen sells good card droppers but those are expensive! Are there any convenient method we can use?

As McBride suggest us Butterfly/Exselsor paper clips from a stationary store or office supply store. Also Bankers clips work but can both these can only hold half a deck.
Just attach each to a paper clip or attach velcro or sew in. If sew pockets right side up on the inside of your long blace coat the size of the cards, this is the professional way to steal cards, you thumb clip them out of the pocket. Your hand naturally turns palm out to when reaching behind you. Also you can use the shirt front covered by your coat, on the left or right side. |

I also use the modified butterfly clip that McBride teaches on his video. It really works well and almost better then regular magic card clips you can buy.
Just take the clip, spray it with flat black and the attach a safety pin the the long straight egde. it works quite nice and can fit about a half a deck fairly decent. If you are worried about flashing it while in your jacket, you can cut a flap out of black cloth and attach this to the coat slight above the clip. This way it hangs down over top of the cards and acts as a cover. Kyle

Remeber, you have to devote a LOT of time practicing the steals. It is not something you can just pick up in a week. Video taping your rehearsals is a must. A lot of people use clips, but very few do it well.

Packets in clips in strategic spots for body steals. For a "no load" approach, carry your cards openly on stage and work off the deck.

Off the pack is okay for card fanning routine, but to produce cards from the air and drop them in a container, table, or floor is more magicial.
