Here is a 29-minute live performance of mine: https://youtu.be/lq2Rj1uf05M I used to be quite sensitive to criticism; I am much less so now; so, please do criticize my technique, presentation, and posts. It helps me to grow, and I promise to take responsibility and not to be defensive. |

These have been my go-to's for years and I don't see that changing. Always get great reactions, are relatively easy to perform and are from a shuffled deck in use/
Untouched (Daryl) Matched Spell-out(Dai Vernon) Invisible Dice (Dani Da Ortiz) Thought of card to pocket( unknown source) Slop Shuffle (Syd Lorayne) These are just a few I wanted to mention as being workers for me. Enjoy~ |

Love this thread! My 10 effects in no particular order (with Credits, when possible)
o Be Honest, What is it? (Eddie Fechter) o Chicago Opener (Ammar for Quick or Malones for Amaze-factor) o Your Signed Card (Bro Hamman) o Have Another sandwich (Marlo, as seen in MMM) o Triumph (Vernons for Quick or Bob Stensels for Amaze-factor) o Gemini Calling o Invisible Palm (My own version) o The Collectors (Marlo, as seen in MMM) o Biddle Trick o Repeater Card to Pocket (Marlo, as seen in MMM) My list for better or worse isn't like anyone else on here, but these are the effects that for the most part I find to be easy, simple, direct, and get a great reaction... I use all 10 of these very frequently. Thanks, Ryan Lockwood.
The more I learn, the less I seem to know.

1) Unshuffled(Paul Gertner) - First saw this many years ago on the TV show That's Incredible. I had learned the Faro Shuffle from Harry's book but still could not put the whole thing together (was a teenager so thought I owned everything I could figure out). When Paul released Steel and Silver many years later I bought the book just to learn this one trick. I perform this every chance I get. When we have new or prospective clients at the company I work for the execs call me and ask me to do this trick with the client's name or slogan on the side of the deck. It makes a HUGE & memorable impression when they see a personalized message on the side of the deck. BTW, the CardShark Phoenix decks always Faro nicely right out of the box.
2) Impromptu OOTW (Harry Lorayne) - Learned this as a teenager from one of Harry's books before ever seeing the original performed. By the time I learned the original OOTW I just didn't see the point in going through the setup. This is my go-to final trick in a house party situation. 3) Omni Deck - Recently purchased and learned Ultimate Invisible Deck by Shawn Farquhar. This thing rocks! When the deck that the spec is holding turns into a solid clear block of lucite (plastic, whatever) they are quite stunned. 4) Anniversary Waltz - Doc Eason ( & Garrett Thomas) - I'm sure any version of this will do but I didn't try it until I looked at their free instructions. I think they make some outlandish claim about how this trick is so powerful that it makes women cry. Folks, I kid you not, this happened the very first time I did this trick with a husband/wife we have known for over 20 years. The wife started crying on the spot. I will do this trick forever. (Matthew Dowden's version on the Party Animal DVD is a worthy addition to this plot) 5) MD (or stack in this case) - Not just any trick with the MD/stack but the one on the Osterlind DVD where the spec thinks of a card, you try to guess it, can't , hand them the deck, they cut to card (while your back turned), they bury it (while your back turned), case it, and you tell them the name of the card. Sounds simple but it is powerful. I was helping a friend at a PTA trade show. Next booth was a couple selling playground safety equipment. I did this for the wife. When I named the card she just didn't know how to react so she threw the deck at me (hit me in the chest). |

This is a great thread.
I'm not a huge card person so I probably don't have ten, but these are my forever "go to" routines, in no particular order: Chicago Surprise (Pop Haydn version), even though I've been criticized by other magicians that that version is "working too hard," I just think it's much stronger (and more fun) than the Chicago Opener. Twisting the Aces (Vernon) Dr. Daley's Last Trick (like everyone else) Kings of Poker 7-card prediction (using Si Stebbins stack) 3-Card Monty routine True Love (my own 4-queen assembly with a girl power story), and... Red Hot Mama (Daryl presentation) if for some reason I don't want to do Chicago Surprise That's only 8, because there aren't that many I would do forever with a regular deck. I also will do certain packet tricks forever (like NFW), and gimmicked decks, and irregular cards (like White Star) because of the reactions they get from the audience, but I couldn't include them in the list according to the rules. But looking at these lists, I think there are some I may add!

Unless I missed it......surprised that Shufflebored by Mr Aronson wasnt on the list. I get sooooo much mileage out of this great effect.
Have you tried 'Up The Ante' yet?? The ultimate gambling demo....a self-working wonder! See the reviews here on the cafe.

Well said Captin Smiffy Shuffleboard is a great trick. I like Ramon Rioboo version. It would definitely be in my top 10 list.

This is a great thread!
When I think of card tricks to do for the rest of my life, I would tend to gravitate toward tricks with a regular deck with just a key card of any sort (crimp, corner cut, etc.): 1. Eleven Percent, my own trick where the participant freely deals to their previously selected card (Available on my dirt cheap “Bullseye Magic” Journal with it’s own thread on the café.) 2. Twins, based on Brother Hamman, but my version with a kicker ending. 3. MacDonald Aces, Martin Nash ungimmicked version 4. Ambitious card, mostly based on Mark Mason moves. 5. ACAAN, my version from a regular shuffled deck 6. Twisting the Aces, my version 7. Homing Card, my version 8. Triumph, my version from a shuffled deck (Also in Bullseye Magic) 9. Oil and Water, based on several people’s moves 10. Multiple card selection and reveal, based mostly on Doc Eason’s routine. |

If I'm sticking to the OP's guideline of normal deck, meaning no duplicates, odd or stranger cards, no wallets or gimmicks of any kind then my go to top 10 (in no particular order) would be...
1. Ambitious Card 2. ACAAN - Barrie Richardson 3. Tailspin - John Guastaferro 4. 51 Cards to Pocket - David Williamson 5. Biddleless - John Guastaferro 6. Stigmata - Wayne Houchin 7. Impromptu Cosmos Duo - Greg Rostami (Using a Roadrunner Cull) 8. Be Honest, What is it? - Learned from Blaine Special 9. Club Sandwich - John Guastaferro 10. Back in Time - Jay Sankey Although, I do a lot of stranger card stuff too that pretty much stay in the cellophane of all of my standard decks ready to go. I might have to post a top 10 of those soon too. This thread is awesome!

Boy! You guys gotta' start reading the good stuff!! (I'm taking a large chance saying anything about my work - there's someone here that will certainly "put it down" as that person has done just recently. Deleted of course as such obvious lack of knowledge needs to be.)

If no strict to gimmick or to magicians only, here is my take on ten card effects over my course in magic for last 17 years and counting:
1. Twisting the Aces (Dai Vernon) 2. Triumph in the hands version no table required - Last Man Standing by John Bannon (Dear Mister Fantasy) 3. Inferno by Joshua Jay (customize version, improved method non-disclosed) 4. Torn and restored transpo by David Williamson (thx Dave) 5. Search and destroyed by Aaron Fisher 6. Mutiple Cards to Pocket by Alex Ng 7. Mystical 13 by Howard Hamburg 8. The Code by Andy Nyman (or use Cardenza designed by Ng Ka Wai, genius Hong Kong Magician) 9. Contact Colors (in memory of Aldo Colombini) 10.The Ambitious Card as taught in Ammar ECTCM2 with Daryl's Ultimare Ambition Improved (in the memory of late Daryl) ...... Actually I can put 10 more and these are my real bread and butter, only (3) (4) (7) (8) & (10) need gimmick and still have 5 use a normal deck. Other still worth for consideration including: 11. C3 - Con Cam Coincidencia by Paul Wilson 12. Thot Echo - Card College Light 13. Neither Blind or Stupid - Juan Tamariz (Sonata, A1 Video, Mnemonica) 14. Finger Flicker - Pit Hartling (Card Fictions) 15. AK47 - John Bannon (Destination Zero) 16. Beyond Fabulous - John Bannon (Dear Mister Fantasy) 17. Deck Recong - John Bannon (Dear Mister Fantasy) 18. Anything taught by Juan Tamariz 19. Effects published by John Bannon 20. Anything taught by David Williamson 21. Anything taught by Howard Hamburg
Most memorable moment - with Maestro Juan Tamariz & Consuelo Lorgia in FISM Busan 2018.

I've enjoyed reading through this string, a lot of really good card tricks.
Im mostly a coin guy, but always loved cards. And I've dabbled over the years, but I probably couldn't rattle off 10 tricks, though I've journeyed through 100s of them along my way. Some a bit more difficult than others, some simple enough, and most I just can't seem to keep in my head (Hey, it's crowded in there). I've always tried to keep it to just a few tricks break up all the coin stuff. Too many of them slip my mind over time to ever do 10 of them properly, but these few seem to stick... -ACR (Finally put a little one together that I like, and owe a lot of it to watching Jonathan Kamm and Jamy Ian Swiss, love their styles) -ACAAN (Played with many of them, but like doing a quick version of YAMFACAAN most, which brings out two really good card minds in R. Paul Wilson & Lee Asher) -Two Card Transpositions *(Including a cute old "Card to Pocket" one I learned long ago from, "Now You See It, Now You Don't" ) -Packet tricks (i.e., NFW, Double Back, Capitulating Queens, Twisting The Aces, Daley's Last trick) And with all that, it still ain't 10. But it's definitely enough, and I learned a great deal as to card magic from all the ins & outs of each one...And happily, I am still learning.
