Hi all,
Do you have any recommendation for scary / dark themed packet tricks? The one like Eugene Burger's "The Last Dream". Thanks, S.H.
May you live in interesting times.

The last Dream is a wonderful bizarre routine and I think it is difficult to find many bizarre packet effects of that standard.
Some of Doug Higley's stuff may interest you, there's a thread here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=14 |

Of course, if you go for "The Web" which has the same ending as this trick, this might happen.

A couple of my Tarot Card effects can become packet tricks simply by pulling them out of the deck and keeping them in an antique brittle-looking envelope from which you blow the dust of ages. Found in the Crafty Shop of Little Horrors in the Invisible Tarot Section (at the Magic Nook), two in particular might do quite nicely on their own: "Death and Taxes" ( https://vimeo.com/81289474 ) and the "Devil Cursed Tarot Wild Card" ( https://vimeo.com/81290373 ).

See Robert Neale's Life, Death and Other Card Tricks.

Jon Allen's Phobia. And by that I mean, a trick, created BY Jon Allen, not what Jon Allen is afraid of.....which is nothing.

I use the web all the time, you just have to be careful when you use it, know your audience.

I don't own it and have never used it but I noticed that Bob Solari has a vampire themed packet effect on his website. It's called Bitten.
Maybe more comical than dark, but I suppose it depends on how you present it. http://bobsolarimagic.com/shop/Close-up/Cards/Bitten |

"Thirteen at Table" and "Survivor" are two good ones from "Life, Death, and Other Card Tricks."

Another suggestion is Rick Maue's Predetermined in Haunted Magic it uses tarot cards and it definitely has a dark ending.

A friend of mine does The Devil's Revenge, mentioned above and it is always well received, but especially in late October. I've never messed with Tarot cards, but some folks love 'em. The video that lynnef posted above looks pretty cool and would probably scare the daylights out of anyone having a fear of spiders.

The Book of Thoth by Stephen Mich is filled with routines done with a tarot deck. It can be found at trickster.com.
