Bill- That drummer was Mel Taylor- who was one of the best rock drummers in the world. A few years back I posted the following video of the Ventures performing Caravan live in Japan (in 1966), where they still remain one of the most popular bands of all time.

When I was learning guitar in the early '60s I had a music book with a smattering of artists; it included Walk, Don't Run by the Ventures, who appeared on the book cover. The only other song I recall from the book was Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang from, if memory serve, Thunderball. |
