Hi there silk people LOL
ok I am working on an idea and would appreciate some suggestions having one silk and changing it to another color. however it needs to be one silk exchanged for another. make sense red to white silk BUT no dye tube or silk pulls. looking for a "flash" idea meaning a quick change some how. this is part of a routine not a stand alone effect. thanks for any suggestions. sam

Some ideas but it would help to know what comes before and what after. What are you wearing? What other props are nearby?
I am presuming you wish to be clean after, but not sure. The production of the new silk is easy since it is not anticipated. Getting rid of the first silk is the problem. These actions do not have to be synchronous -- just appear that way to the audience. The first silk has to go somewhere, sometime. That is the key.

MC Auto Silk Change by Mikame
http://stores.silkmagictricks.com/produc......cks.html You will have to make a body load holder gimmick if you want to steal it from your person, most likely. Another idea would be to use a powerful reel and pull one up your sleeve while releasing the other one. If you don't know the Petrick & Mia Reel, then just use the old standard pull, connected to the other arm. Many ways to grab the silk in the middle, tape, Velcro, small hook & eye, hair clip, etc. |

I apologize I should have given a few more details but wanted to have some of you give it to me cold first.
the effect is not for me but for a student. it is for a girl. wearing a dress of sorts. currently the first silk is used for a false knot tied and removed. possibly reworking that to be Knots off and remove just one knot and show the hole in the silk. then that silk needs to be vanished and the new silk produced. the new silk will be used for some thing simple and then vanished in a cool way that I cant reveal here. the issue we have is the one silk vanish to the other silk (different color). I have a few ideas that require some serious blocking and misdirection and sleight of hand but if executed properly could be a really really sweet bit! right now I am just seeking out simple solutions so that we can start playing with the idea. thanks for your thoughts and comments. keep them coming please sam

Do you mean no props, as I see the best solution for this color change as being the dye tube in rolled paper tube. As it becomes possible to put the hole silk in then the whole. It could ever be worked as forgetting the hole, and it come out a different color, but with a hole in the scarf. Then putting it back in and comes out whole. A little comedy never hurt any magic performance. Sort of a Mis-Made Flag or Rainbow without the Blendo effect, but a restoration effect and color change. To keep the act moving, I see no reason to show the tube empty at the end, being it was rolled up at the beginning. You could start with rolled and end by unrolling as well.
She wears a dress, there is lots of places for secret pockets to make steals from when wearing a dress. A good seamstress can add hidden pockets. Silks could even appear from long tube pockets in near the seams, ala Channing Pollack. |

How about putting the silk that has the hole INTO the hole (turning it inside out) and have it come out the other side "healed" and a different color?
