Hi,

Here's my review of DoubleDown from Bryn (MindMagic Productions).

First let me tell you what a nice guy Bryn is. I bought Double Down but after a few weeks I still haven't received it. Probally post problems. So I mailed Bryn and he immediately send me a second pack which arrived a few days later.

So now on to Double Down.

For a complete description take a look at his website: http://www.mindmagic.myfoolmoon.com/index.html

It uses an old principle which I assume we all know. The use of Casino cards, which are not gimmicked, carry their own marks to make the effect work. I have this effect now for a few weeks and had to try it out on lay audience to see if it really works.
Well I can tell you: it does. I use it in combination with R. Osterlinds Breakthrough Card System and it kills.

There are several ways to find out which card a spectator is thinking, all explained in the description. But I use my own way where I don't have to remember anything.

You also get a bonus effect but I haven't tried that one out.

Anyway, if you want something simple but good: get it.

It is very good for I have this as well. The instructions are a bit difficult to digest and aren't very clear. You have to figure some things out for yourself, which aren't too difficult. Overall, great effect with good reactions. I wasn't at all impressed with In The Mood Ring, another effect by mind magic but that's par for the course.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the reviews! I'm very proud of DOUBLE-DOWN and am glad you enjoy it as well.

Chris: What part of the instructions wasn't clear? I've actually had several positive comments just on the depth I go into detailing the "principle." Anything I can help you with, please let me know.
And sorry the MOODRing isn't your style. I've had some nice reviews on that item here and elsewhere but of course, thakfully, not every effect is for everyone.
(P.S. - Don't be afraid to take advantage of the 30-day $-back guarantee!)

I am almost out of my first 52-set run and working to create another run. I and may use DIFFERENT Casinos this time, and those that have this effect know that may be a chore!

I got mine a few days ago, cannot wait to try it out, what is also nice about this, is the same cards if you wished and with a little thinking could be used for an effect found in Hoodwinking as a follow up or later in your set. So the cards can do double duty, mind reading and a prediction effect.

well worth the money

Thank you very much for the review, John. DOUBLE-DOWN has come much further than I could have ever imagined since my last post in this thread, above.

I am glad it has found favor with you!

I have been aware of this effect for some time & while I meant to, I never got around to ordering "Double Down". Then I saw Richard Osterlind perform it on his latest DVD, "No Camera Tricks" and it drove me to take action and finally go ahead and get it.

It really is clever and oh so easy to perform! Byrn puts out some very nice effects and this ranks right up there with "$" for me and "$" has been a favorite of mine for some time now.

There's no memory work here... in fact, you don't have to do much of anything with "Double Down" except focus on your presentation and take a bow!

It gets a wonderful reaction and that's what matters most to me.

My only regret is that I waited so long to go ahead and get it.

I would wholeheartedly recommend "Double Down"....and Bryn offers a money back guarantee, although I would be shocked if anyone would really send this one back!

Best,
Bobby

Thanks, Bobby. I am glad you like it and of course I am thrilled Richard Osterlind included it on his new DVD series "No Camera Tricks."

Thanks for the review, and also for the comments about my "$" effect.

I think Double Down is quite expensive. 30 dollars for 10 casinocards. I hear you say: ' plus the secret !', but I have the Osterlind DVD's, so I only need the props.

Hi Frans. Please let me start by stating I am completely THRILLED Richard Osterlind chose to include DOUBLE-DOWN on his new DVDs!

Yes, it does cost $30, but I, of course, am biased and feel it is well worth it. (I am very fortunate that many others have felt the same way!)

If you like the written description of the effect, or what you saw on Richard Osterlind's DVDs, the cost of buying it if still cheaper than trying to assemble it yourself, IF you can locate the correct decks (about $5 per deck X 10 decks = $50.) As you saw on the DVD they are not just "any" casino cards. But if you have the time and sources more cheaply then by all means please do so...either way, buying from me or assembling it yourself, once you start perforing it I beieive you will find it was well worth it!

If you think you can get out of it cheaper I certainly encourage you to try so and then get out there and "give it a go" performing it because as you saw it really does play quite strongly.

FYI, http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=109
is another, longer, thread on DOUBLE-DOWN and probabally where future traffic regarding it should go as to avoid multiple threads on the same effect.

Thanks for the interest!
