See if you can find my Kick Double Lift. I think that's what called it in one of my early books.

Yes I just read it again, in Deck Sterity p.8-11. I think that’s the technique or a very close one Pop Haydn uses a lot. I’m not fond of the get ready offered as the prep but a pinky count can easily find his place instead. I have to try it again. To keep up the alignment doesn’t seem easy…

Oh and riffling through the book again, I discovered that the flying aces techniques predates à Bernard Bilis move by several decades…

Also the first appearance of The Indicator- a long time favourite of one Simon Aronson.
But I digress. |

The double lift that I use most is the double lift from the Harry Lorayne book Close Up Card Magic.

Yes it is. It doesn't require a get ready. I can do a double, triple or quadruple lift without a prep move.

I'm sure this exact version is in print somewhere under many different names, but here is my double that I use with very good success.

The big tilting motion is a little suspicious. No ?

I'm by far the least expert person on this thread, but the tilt didn't bother me, Rach. It seems pretty natural to tilt up the deck a bit in order to flip a card over. Of course, Bill's video showed many such tilts in succession, which did look strange, but in performance you wouldn't be doing that, right? FWIW

Very smooth Bill P. Great job with the DL.

The DL that David Williamson teaches on Ridiculous is great. Looks so natural and is a bit different from what Greg Wilson teaches on Double Take which makes it a little easier to do in my opinion.

Re: DL's- You simply cannot do better than the “Wisch-Wedge” Techniques, (named by Jon Racherbaumer, formerly called the Phan-Thumb Techniques) IMHO. See the following video from the Bill Wisch “Slydini Inspiration” Lecture at the SAM parent assembly in Dec 2019. www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_8tthr9Dvo

Youtube has tipped people off to the double lift and bad execution hasn't helped.learning a practical second deal might solve the problem of them knowing it and the, "you're using two cards" heckle...
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

Padre,
Isn't the second deal really hard? I'm still working on my DL and it's coming along nicely, but it's been a long journey. Also, even with a second deal, I can imagine a spectator *thinking* there was a second card, i. e., thinking you'd used a DL. What are your thoughts? Bob |

Take a year and learn a good second deal, either the strike or the two card pushoff(or both).you'll never regret it as with time you'll get better and have a powerful weapon.tony georgio warned that you have to have "the right attitude" when executing it.this comes with years of use...time well spent...sit watching tv doing the deal w/out looking at your hands...in his letters t.nelson downs describes his technique.you can find the letters in a 2-part linking ring magazine article from yrs ago.go find it...

Billman,
I happened on Ken Krenzel's "Natural Double Lift" early in Harry Lorayne's book, The Card Classics of Ken Krenzel (hope I have the title right). I haven't read the description closely yet, but it seems to me there's a strong family resemblance between Krenzel's DL and yours. Bob |
