Here's a video of my impromptu torn and restored card, loosely based on a Paul Harris method. I've included a premise that I think it quite different. I'd love to hear what you think!

I really liked that.
Pretty deceptive and all but more importantly opening with stating that you will be giving them half a card is a really nice touch. You pull off the patter about testing for an enduring relationship well... jokey and cute but still compelling enough. But most importantly it not only manages a technical problem but makes a great theatrical ending by bringing closure to the story after the magical climax. Yeah, that is smart. I've been avoiding variations of this plot that end with a torn card because I didn't have a good reason for it. Can I steal that please? Two tiny notes: It would have been nice to see the reformed card for a few beats longer before you tare it up again, to fix the image of a restored card. Somehow relax with it for a beat during audience immediate reaction and say "thank you" to everyone before you then turn to 'Abby' and finally tare the card in half(?) Perhaps that happens naturally in live performance as you wait for the applause to die down a little. Could you make a single fold length-ways but not width-ways before asking them to sign to encourage them to do so appropriately without further direction? |
