Hello all! I have worked with fire magic for some time now and am thinking of applying it to an up coming theater production I am going to be a part of.
The production is the “Passion Play” (the story of Christ’s life and death), but it’s probably unlike any you’ve seen or heard of. It is a massive show with a cast of over 500 and full battles between demons and angles, heaven and hell and a very realistic crucifixion of Christ. Anyway, we had one demon that breathed fire, but there was a concern that it looked too "circus like". So, naturally I said it didn’t have to be that way. We have demons and angels on Las Vegas quality wire rigging so when one shoots the other with fire he can be thrown back 10 plus feet! One way I was thinking for us to breathe fire without it looking like a circus show, was to get rid of the torch. I was thinking of using an omega fire / fickle fire type gimmick attached to a flame retardant glove (might not be needed to an omega gimmick) to Ignite the Kerosene spray. Thoughts comments or suggestions? Thanks! Brian Lassek

What it really sounds like you need is a little black magic. I made a Punny

Sounds like a fine idea to me , would look a lot better than holding a torch, just make sure the guy who is doing it knows what he is doing or you could have a real fire ball from hell on stage. The fickle fire gimmick on a kevlar glove or similar would suffice. What are the health and safety implications of this onstage? do you have adequate public liability insurance?
Keep passing the open windows!
