This is Andre Kole's Thru steel illusion. You should contact Andre or maybe Tim Kole to know if it's available for sale

Cool! Thanks for the info.
I believe I saw this selling on Tilford Illusions as well. |

Tilford is now Dominic in italy so enough said. As far as I know the illusion was first performed by Tim Kole and Andre Kole has only given a few permission to use it such as Copperfield. Anyone else you see like Farla for instance you can be pretty sure its a rip off

As has been pointed out, Andre' Kole is the creator. Here is a link to a video of his son, Tim Kole, performing it on "Champions of Magic:"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tkg7Vnff4p0 The performance starts at 0:34
Co-author with illusionist Andre' Kole of "Astrology and Psychic Phenomena."

OK as a kid (over 40 years ago) I had a close up prop die through mirror (I think was the same method and effect) witch came first CLOSE UP or STAGE -- if close up how can you say Kole's is creator??? the only difference I can see is one is close up and one stage and one sinks throught and one penetrates up. (this is just a question please don't jump on me for the question).

Illusionman2, there was really no such thing as close up magic in Houdini's day. Houdini is said to perform the Walking through steel plate. Close-up was only done as Dai Vernon, mentioned, setting around in the back of magic shops and showing each other their new ideas with cards and coins. Performers designed everything to be presented on stage or for the rich magician, would invite people into their homes, and in their Parlour for magic demonstrations and shows. Magic was an art from to make a living back then. It is said Lipsig, did an entire act with playing cards, not productions, but card tricks with a deck of cards.
Andre Cole's version is more sophisticated from what Houdini did. Andre Cole has created a large number of totally original illusions. If you ever get to see his show, all are original, and many have not been publicized. I was lucky enough to see him perform a show for regular people here in our city. It was the most professional show I have ever seen, with totally original illusions. I don't know if his son is carrying on his touring show or Andre is still performing. Close-up has not become that popular until recently, with the Internet and being able to produce card tricks like the average person expects. 50 years ago, close-up was only performed in bars, trade shows, and to sell to kids in magic shops to show their friends. Restaurant Magic was just getting started in the vacation areas of the country. Their was not such thing as strolling magic, that came about in the 90's as a click word to sell magic to young enthusiasts. There is now to kinds of magic, magic created to sell, and magic to perform and do shows. Dealers just decided to market to the enthusiasts as it makes them more money. You have to look really had to find good performing magic. I think it would be interesting to see a timeline of magic's progression over the years. |

What I mean is I have a prop (used it all the time) Die Through Mirror that is the same effect and method as the Kole prop. I am not talking about Houdini's day I am talking about a commercially sold close up trick from about 30 or 40 years back. And ( IF ) the close up trick (Die through Mirror) came before the Kole Through Steel illusion how can you say Kole is creator of through Steel.

Illusionman2 how many magic tricks/illusions use similar methods?. Just because you assume this is the same as the dice thru mirror effect doesn't mean one influenced the other. Andre Kole is a very creative man and so was Ali Bongo RIP. I'm sure if they could both read this now they would just smile at this tenuous linking. Sorry but your point is pointless

Illusionman2, Andre Cole was creating illusions way before 40 years ago. Rarely if ever any trick is developed from a close-up trick. Close-up was not as relevant 40 years ago, as it is today. Usually, it is the opposite, close-up is developed from illusions. That has been my experience in the last 55+ years.
No dice can take the place of human being in a large illusion, there is no way a dice can move like a human. |

Thank you natmagic and Mr. Hegbli-- but I would like someone in the know of how Koles' Through Steel and Die Through Mirror (work) to tell me the method is different or Koles' Through Steel came first. Not asking for the secrets just that the method is different or Koles' came first.
