My my, this is fascinating. Greece has voted to reject their creditors terms. Past bad government coupled with the international banking collapse has left 25% of Greece unemployed, and the rest really angry.
http://www.wsj.com/articles/polls-close-......36113280 What next? Is this a threat to the world economy? Fascinating, and a little troubling.

Germany and France are the biggest losers 60 and 40 billion. We and the USA are in for 10 each.

We are all going like Greece if we don't all arrest the banksters.

I don't know whether the Greeks took the right decision. But the EU put a lot of pressure on them not to allow the public to vote, and not to hold a referendum. Glad to see they did not buckle and went ahead and exercised their democracy. Hope it all works out well for them, and for the Euro as a whole.

Either way, it was going to be hell, but the Greek people took a noble stand and drew a line in the sand. It may give Syriza a little bit of breathing room to further mobilize the public to fight back against the neoliberal agenda. It will also help to provide encouragement to Podemos in Spain and Sinn Fein in Ireland, who are also fighting off the assault on working people by the austerity brokers. I wish them success.

I think Russia is in the bidding also.

Greek shipping magnates and the rest were/are stashing huge amounts of their wealth offshore in Switzerland; the Swiss refused to give the Greek government access. But the IMF and the European Central Bank wanted even further cuts in pensions, and salaries--cuts that have all ready plunged people into poverty.
The other huge irony here is that the Germans, who are in the forefront of demanding repayment of the Greek debt, became an economic force after WWII because the Allies including Greece forgave the German debt run up under WWII.

Don't fall for the old ploy of blaming someone else who was thrifty with their cash! You can't just spend spend spend ... Without paying the reaper .. And he's coming for us too.
The banks are figuring out a way to get your retirement just like they got your homes.

Slim...is the sky falling where you live? Greece borrowed more than they should have, and now, without reform (like having people pay taxes, work a full work week, and not retire at 40 on full pension).
The homes the banks got were from poor souls who got suckered into taking too big of loans, got tangled in sub-prime mortgages, or got greedy and tried to buy and flip houses. Myself, and a few others I know, actually made out well in real estate over the last 10 years. Having gotten extremely lucky with timing and location. Not sure if it's worse to live in fear such as yourself, or to be a fear monger and try to instill discord in others...

Aid was provided to Germany because the Allies saw the disastrous results of leveling economic penalties on the losers of WWI. And what did Germany do with that? They worked hard and smart to become the economic cornerstone of Europe.
Greece misrepresented itself, and borrowed more than it should have, and now they have to pay the piper (yikes! did I just agree with Slim?) Unfortunately, their mismanagement will likely have negative impacts around the world...

I must admit I have no concept of World Economics. Having said that. What is going to or may happen now? What are the possibilities and what can or will happen to Greece? How will people get paid? If you are a Greek business man is this good or bad? Are most small businesses about to go under? How will this affect the World Economy? Will it affect the World Economy? Can they just begin printing their own money? If so is it worth buying and selling? Is it a good time to buy a home or purchase property in Greece if you have the money? Can banks even give a loan? I know I asked a lot of questions. But can anyone answer some of them?
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000
