Has anyone performed with Scott Alexander's Velocity before? Many many years ago he created Velocity, then 2.0 and now there is a 3.0
I would like to hear genuine thoughts from performers who have tried it in their show on a daily to constant basis. How would you rate this? I really love the description Scott has on the website about the 3.0. Thanks, guys! |

I did a search on the Café and found a post on Velocity 1.0 dated 2004.

Some of Bob Kohler magic is not allowed to be explained by the purchaser according to some of the purchase agreements made with Bob Kohler Magic. So it no surprise that if any of the purchaser's are members of the Café, they do not want to go against the legal agreement. I just went to their website and nothing is mentioned for the Velocity 3.0, but I do not own this, and it may be arranged when ordering.
From what is see, the only difference is it changed from a rifle type of weapon to a pistol. Easier to transport from show to show. So there may be some handling changes in the downloadable instructional video. The video is marked with your identity, so you cannot sell or transfer the video. This suggest to me, that if you by this trick, it is yours and yours alone forever. This marked video means if any of the video is posted anywhere, Bob Kohler Magic will see your identity and take legal action against you for breaking the purchase agreement. Here is the website ad, read the text carefully. http://www.bobkohlermagic.com/products/m......ity.html I suggest you inquire before you purchase, as there may be new requirements when purchasing, like no television rights, and conditions on where it can be performed. |

I would be careful using a firearm, even a paintball gun (especially when the ad proudly states how closely it resembles the real deal),in a performance. I might be considered as being overly cautious in persuading fellow magicians to take a politically correct stance when it comes to using guns (which are aimed and shot at towards another human being) in their act...so be it.
Just my thoughts. |

P & T "kill" with their bullet catch and I certainly would like to see an end to all current and future politically correct stances. The p.c. thing is out of control and I simply refuse to be part of it. I'm glad these big names still showcase a very dramatic, suspenseful, and magical gag. Since I wasn't around to witness William Robinson's show, I give thanks knowing there's a modern, twisted version available five days a week at the Rio. Hey if someones concerned about getting burned, then yes they shouldn't fool with fire. But, if you can get around the uncomfortable feeling through understanding, study, and practice then all the better.

Hey guys,
I've emailed both Scott Alexander and Bob Kohler, and did not get a response in over a month now. Does anyone know if this product is actually out? Or where it can be purchased? I saw the previous version (Velocity 2.0) for sale on ebay.. but I really rather not buy from an unknown source. Thanks for all your help! Yan |

I used to perform this as it was great fun. I opted to sell this as the bulk of my shows were family shows. Additionally people are weird about anything resembling a gun so it was mostly a personal choice. I loved the routine and miss performing it .... I've have thought about reversing my decision with 3.0. Needless to say that I love most everything Scott and Bob create. Always very well thought out and practical to perform.

I have had much success with it ever since. I perform it as a duo act in a parlour setting. And it has gone over really well. I have even done it live on national TV.
You will not regret this prop if you need something that is dangerous in your show. Although it does not have the danger feeling that a real gun would bring, it is a good piece in a show. |

I just saw Scott perform this in a live show over the weekend and I continue to love this routine. I am assuming that Scott was using the 3.0 prop. There are so many ways to present this to keep this very PC and it plays very well.

Very cool ... Add me to the list. Either way .. This routine kills every time I have seen it performed. I too was concerned over using a "gun" in today's climate, but with the paint ball gun, this is easily presented without any controversy while being very entertaining and suspenseful.

It would be pretty cool to know the type of the new paintball gun - just in case the old one conks out. Example: I tried to get a spare gun for version 3.0 (just in case my won't work anymore) but you don't get this special paintball gun anymore here in Germany and it's nearly impossible to get it from the United States. I'm still happy that I was able to convince the customs officials that my velocity 3 parcel is "just a magic trick"... those were the worst 45 minutes in my life: customs office 2016 I love the effect! Cheers Nikki
