Hello!
I'm trying to put together some effects, of those that only work for TV, I mean, those that the eye of the camera sees perfectly, but they don't work in front of an audience for angles reasons. As this forum is open for lay people, please let me know in private if you know of some of this kind of effects or post here if you know about books or videos using those principles. (Without the Use of Editing Tricks) Thanks! |

Dan Harlan's Hover Card immediately comes to mind.
Mark Mason's Blink is also very good. John Kennedy's floating/self-lighting cigarette is also worth a look. Hope this helps |

You could walk up a wall. But I thought that reeked of camera magic on Angel's special, so maybe not. The laypeople seem to like it.

Alejandro,
The Mark Parker book, "Illusion Design" has three or four 'made for tv' illusions in it. They may be exactly what you are looking for. Hank Lee and others carry this book on their websites. Good luck!

Please purchase Lights! Camera! Magic! by Dick Williams, It is located on David Ginn's web Site and listed for $35 but his mailed newsletter has it for sale at $10, so ask him about it. It is exactly what you want.
It lists Dick's top 200 picks for Magic on TV. It also lists those tricks and effects that he will never do again on TV and why he would not do them. He also lists 500 effects for TV. This is the book you're lookng for if TV magic is what you want. It incluses so much more on tips for TV. Now if it is illusions for TV, then Contact Denny & Lee because he has great insight in this area, and sells books and videos on this topic. You might want to get Mark Wilson's Magic Circus VHS videos ($90 for all three) which contain 33 illusions most of which are done surrounded with people and a over head camera. (Presentation is not like it is today, but you get to see great illusions). Also Lance Burton has an excellent DVD he has done for the TV and it's worth getting for presentation, syle and modernazation. Also sold exclusively on David Copperfield's web site is his DVD of his best TV Illusions, including his flying. Hope this helps!
