I just got back from Japan the other day. I bought a set of the new effects. I met Billy at the Takashimaya Department store in Shinjuku - really nice guy. Only the official Tenyo Dealers are allowed to sell them before October, and you can't download the English instructions in the end of October. However, it is fun playing with all the items.
If you ever get a chance to visit Japan and you go to see a demonstrator, it is well worth it to ask them for tips on the items you buy. I was shown a lot of clever twists that are not shown in the printed instructions. Richard, Billy said it was a pleasure meeting you at the Tenyo Convention. |

Nothing grabs me from this years lot. Nothing looks "magical" to me, more like puzzle toys.
In my opinion its the weakest Tenyo suite to come out in a long time. I'll be passing on this collection. |

You really need to try the new effects in performance. They're better than you're giving them credit for.

I've been living in Japan for the last 10 yrs and Tenyo products
are sold in every department store. However, most effects stay on the shelves for a long time or just don't sell. Price range starts at ¥1,500/$15.00 .The most expensive being ¥3,500/ $35.00. |

How do you know they don't sell? Maybe they do sell and have just been restocked by the next time you visit the store?

2,3 and 4 year old stock still sitting .
Magic had a bit of a renaissance in Japan 10 yrs ago. The typical buyer of Tenyo today is a 65+ yr old oyaji hobbyist. They're looking for something that requires no technical ability. Very very few young people pick up magic in Japan. |

You could make some money selling that old stock, because many of those items are no longer made.

Hmmm, not a bad idea.
I might just look into that. Thanks. |

Hello All,
Just FYI, Hocus-Pocus.com has preorders going on for the Tenyo 2016 products. I've personally preordered "Tiny Plunger". Nothing on the site says when these will be available. (Anyone know?) |

Likely late November--just a guess. Could be early December.

You can buy all four new Tenyo items for only $60 from Seo-magic:
http://www.seomagic-usa.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/108 You're not going to get them cheaper than that unless you're in Japan! As far as reviews, four items are covered in the November issue of Genii. |

Has anyone received/used the new doghouse? Is it worth the purchase?

Yes, it's great. As a utility prop, it can be used for many things, not just with sponge doggies.

Picked up the line a couple of weeks ago. Had a chance this weekend to play with them. Interesting group. To be honest if the Magic Plunger was a new Tenyo item it would be my favorite. The Mystery Doghouse is the most "old school" Tenyo item of the bunch and for that reason I like it. There are some interesting ideas and the Ghost Camera is a cool visual. I wonder if Mathieu Bich might become the next generation Lubor for Tenyo, he has come up with some cool concepts.

I got mine in the mail today. I'm pleasantly surprised by the line this year. I was beginning to miss the old days of - "An Amazing Trick Anyone Can Do!" and "No Practice Required!" I started to get disappointed in 2011 with Pop Up Box, 2012's Magic Memo Pad, 2013's 4D Printer and was beginning to miss the ingenious plastic tricks that worked right out of the box that I used to buy when I was a kid.
I really like this years line. They feel like "Tenyo" of old. I've been messing around with the Plunger and it's very well made and plain fun. The prop looks silly / interesting and doesn't look like a "trick" aside from the size of it. I already ordered a couple more to have on hand. The Doghouse is very cool although you need to be careful to make sure the gimmick is properly engaged before opening the box (maybe I got a defective one) Ghost Camera will be with me all the time now that everyone and his brother has a smartphone these days. Finally, Future Puzzle (as Richard and other have said) is really ingenious but feels like the least "Tenyo" item. That being said it's a hell of a fooler. Just my 2 cents. |
