Hello everyone hope your summer is going well. My question to you all is about saying Thank you to a client. After you get done with shows how do you follow up with a thank you??????
I have heard different ideas such as email, snail mail and even gifts. Currently I send out a email but I would like to make it more personal. What do you guys do. For all types of shows. Birthday Library school..... Thanks Magic Joe |

I send an e-mail.
I mention particular things about the show or things we discussed after the show. I invite them to review me or refer me to friends if they enjoyed my Magic. I will get an occasional review from this. I invite feedback on my show from their perspective. I don't get much in the way of negative feedback (maybe a suggestion that a particular effect did not work for the toddlers in attendance) but the door is open. -Mary Mowder |

We've always send a handwritten note. Mentioning moments from the show, and in particular the BD child or guest of honor.

Hi Magic Joe -
Currently, I send a follow up email within a couple of days after the show date, requesting a reference quote. I don't like evaluation forms, so I don't use those. I also send a handwritten thank you card, with small gift card, in the mail, within a couple of days after the show date. I used to enclose Dean Hankey's "Invisible Magic Dust" as the gift in with my Thank You Cards, but now I use a specific gift card because of an idea I read in Joe Romano's "C.I.A. Lecture Notes." Since I've been sending this specific gift card, my feedback from my customers on the thank you card alone (not to mention the show), has been really great! I'm not going to spill the idea here, as it's not mine to share. If anyone wants to know what it is, I recommend that you buy Joe's lecture notes. For the wording on the thank you card, I use wording that Barry Mitchell shared in his "ABC's of Children's Magic" CD. So I recommend those 2 resources for tweaking your customer thank you system: Joe Romano's lecture notes and Barry Mitchell's CD. - Donald P.S. Just to be clear, I don't consider a reference letter request and a thank you card / note to be the same thing. I let the thank you card be just that... a thank you for their business, and not asking anything else from them (not asking for reference quotes, referrals, future bookings, etc.) If I want to ask anything else from them, then I send a separate form of communication / separate request.

Thanks everyone for your input. I have heard joes cleaver gift card idea. I have partnered with a local ice cream shop that supplies me with gift cards to send out after events I just haven't started yet as I'm waiting for the right idea to send it.
Thanks everyone for your help. |

Some performers use "Send out cards" with a handwritten style of font. It is all handled electronically, and a physical card is sent in the mail. But that never appealed to me personally.

When I was an agent, I had an entertainer send me a microwave bag of popcorn, wraped in plastic, with their info on a sticker on the bag.

I send a thank you letter in the mail a couple of days after the event also. It thanks them, and invites them to send a comment to my website. I also include a fortune teller fish for the child. I do get a lot of e-mails to my site to where I can not post them all. I just pick out the ones I like and publish those.
