I've always pronounced it REH-cloos, but recently I've heard people say reh-CLOOS.
How do you pronounce it? Have you ever even thought about this before?
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I've heard both.
I accent the second syllable. |

It's partly regional.
Generalizing: the prefix "re" is only pronounced with a vowel (meaning the syllable is stressed) in Southern (and country) dialects. Most Americans unstress the syllable, and use a schwa. I'm not Canadian, so I'll admit that I'm an expert in this stuff. |

I try quite hard to avoid enunciating schwas.
I pronounce it ree-CLOOSE. |

Either is acceptable, but I'd go with accenting the first syllable. When confronted with a word like "record," the noun usually gets the accent on the first syllable, and the verb on the second. This is not quite that, but close enough.

The most common pronunciation around here, where we have a lot of those critters, is reh-CLOOS.
Makes sense to me because I've never heard "reclusive" ("reh-CLOOS-iv") prounounced as "REE-cloos-iv" or REH-cloo-siv." |

Yet, if you were discussing a person with agoraphobia, you'd likely accent the first syllable: REH-cloose.
