Just an FYI, if you're an Amazon Prime member there are a couple magic documentaries available for free online:
"Our Magic" - Thirty-one of magic's most respected thinkers, performers and creators discuss the "real secrets" of magic. An open and honest conversation; a rare and revealing peek behind the curtain of a much-maligned and misunderstood art form. "The Magic Life" - Three aspiring individuals try to turn their passion into a career. Can they pull off the biggest trick of their lives and become working magicians? |

Just got finished watching both.
"Our Magic" is an excellent, insightful documentary on the rudiments of what makes magicians tick. "The Magic Life" didn't answer the question and leaves the viewer hanging. Features a close-up card guy, a busker and a stage manipulator. The L.A. Times called it "under-developed" and that would be an apt description. Definitely worth the watch though. JMHO

Just found out "Our Magic" was on Prime. Am I behind the 8-Ball, or did it only recently get added to Prime?

I agree that "The Magic Life" was underdeveloped, but it was fun to follow the three main characters on their journeys, at least as far as they went. Also fun to see brief appearances by Lance Burton, Dale Salwak, Juliana Chen, Jonathan Levit, Yigal Mesika (who demonstrates the impromptu value of one of his signature inventions), and the legenday Richard Turner.
It's still magic even if you know how it's done.
