Thanks for all the great tips this week, please keep them coming. I was wondering what you would consider the best source for learning the pass. I have the basics down, but just can't seem to get it right. Kaufman's video? Oullet's book? I appreciate it!! Thanks- dave |

I think if you are looking for the finer points of a pass either check out Expert Card Technique or Expert at the Card Table. Both books’ break it down’ for you. The descriptions are concise and magnificently written and the best thing is both can be found virtually anywhere, even at your local Barnes and Nobel!!
Hot Tip # 1 - Make sure you read these descriptions ONE sentence at a time. Try to understand exactly what each sentence means before moving on to the next. Hot Tip # 2 - Use a pencil to make notes in the book (unless it’s a collector’s copy) so when you go back to read it over again in a few months, you can extrapolate the information easier. Hope that helps… Lee

I have spent the last three months learning the classic pass, the jiggle pass, the KO pass and the turnover pass. I would take my deck of cards downstairs and watch my video, 'The Pass' by Ken Krenzel. Gary Oullette is the guest on it and it is just packed with what the passes should look like. I learned the classic pass from Giobbi's Card College volume 3(maybe 2). I have Oullette's book and companion video and they do help.
Best of luck, the pass is a very worthwile move! -Casey |

I have Kaufman's video and I do think its good but man is that guy tense with the deck. He tells you to pretty much hold it in a death grip which just isn't my style. If you hold the deck like he says you may have a fast pass but it will be very awkward(spelling?) in appearance to the spectator. There are quite a few pases taught so if you want a lot of variety it may be worth a look. It might be good to look it up on ebay but I don't know if I can really reccomend it at its full price.
I do however second Lee's suggestion for looking at the two books, they are good sources. |
