Howdy folks, I need help to identify the performer of an effect I saw on a magic special on TV in the 1970s:
- Performer has a small bare pedestal table, a top hat, a hanky & a tumbler of milk. - Perf places tumbler of milk on table, places hanky over glass, places top hat crown-down on top of covered glass. - Steps away, magical gesturing. The hat (& hanky) slowly sinks to the table. - Perf reaches into hat and removes tumbler of milk. What blew my mind was that it happened slowly, and the perf was nowhere near the table. It felt like I 'saw' the glass penetrate the hat. The only other thing I can remember about that special was that I'm pretty sure it included Diana the Enchantress doing her vanish-off-the-top-of-a-gramaphone illusion thingy that Lance Burton now does. It has been bugging me for decades now. I came across the effect in an old magic book (it's actually a very old trick - early C20th IIRC), so I know my memory of the trick was correct, but I have never been able to identify the magic special or the performer. For some reason I keep thinking Richard Ross, but I've never found any record of him doing that trick - or indeed of anyone in the modern era doing it. It's doing my head in, and Google isn't helping me at all. If anyone can help me out I'll be greatly in your debt! |

Check with Todd Karr at www.miraclefactory.net
I know he sells a DVD set of 1950s television performances, so he might very well know the act you are referring to.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

I put through an order (around US$140) at miraclefactory, which was never filled. After 5 weeks I requested he cancel my order and refund me. No action. After waiting a further 4 weeks, I threatened to take the matter further, which finally yielded my refund. I would not recommend miraclefactory or Todd Karr to anyone. |
