I used the magic assistant in my shows a few years ago and I'm thinking about bringing it back. For those of you that use it would effects do you use? And if you don't use it what would you think could be quick fun and visual.
Also I understand some people are against this effect but please keep this page on topic. Thanks!!!!! some effects Im thinking about using. silk vanish applause sign and a floating bill. |

Do you mean an actual person that you train and who helps you at all of your shows (like a spouse, or paid assistant)? If so, then Marty and Brenda Hahne have a DVD on the subject of being a magic show assistant. Or are you referring to the "fantasy magician" or "instant magician" type of magic prop (like the one sold by Ken Scott or Kevin James)? If you are, I've never heard of it referred to as "the magic assistant". You'd probably have an easier time doing a search for threads about the prop on the Magic Café if you searched for "instant magician". If I was confused by your meaning, then I bet others were, too. - Donald P.S. Here's one previous thread on the "fantasy magician" / "instant magician": http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=17 There are many threads on the topic. Here's another previous thread where you (magicjoe) participated in the discussion: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=17

You are right Donald.
I thought he was talking about the Instant Magician from the context of the post. -Mary Mowder |

You can also do a search on YouTube and find lots of ideas in those performances. Appearing canes, color changing silks, cue card, rope to silk, floating rope, dlites, light up rose, and balloon twisting are several good ideas. |

Part of the reason I posted the link to the older thread that magicjoe previously participated in, is that sometimes performers forget what they included in their routines in the past, if they've left the routine out of the show for a while (and don't have notes / video to jog their memory). If he forgot the name of the trick, maybe he forgot what he did in it. So, I was attempting to jog his memory with his older post.

Thanks everyone for your help and assistants. I'm sorry I got the name wrong but yes I am talking about instant magician. I have Kevin James version but I do have ken Scott's library video which he does.
Again thank you for the ideas and thanks Donald for the link. |
