Yesterday I tried to purchase this classic trick from tannens and they said they no longer carry it. After searching the web I didn't find many search results for it. Does anyone know where I can purchase it or if it is no longer being produced?

It is no longer "politically correct."

I think it's more acceptable than the Bra Trick. In order to make it work, ya gotta use a funny-looking pair of boxers, with hearts or smiley faces or something equally ridiculous. What does NOT work is tighty-whiteys.

I wouldn't do a trick with boxer shorts / underwear in my kids / family shows. Even if the "victim" of the joke / prank was the performer, instead of a child or adult.
A few times, I've had potential customers who asked if I was going to do any tricks with underwear in my show. They had hired a performer in the past who did a trick with underwear, and the customer (or some of the audience) didn't like it. One of these is a daycare that I've now performed for multiple times, so I've made the right choice to stay away from routines like that. - Donald

Don't agree there is a famous movie captain underpants and its all about underwear..i think as a performer if your character fits a funny person go for it...you should always ask the person who hired you if its ok...

I agree with Donald and Neznarf (that's FRANZEN spelled backwards) If I had used any prop of that nature when I was playing schools, it would have created HEAT.
If you must use underwear to get a laugh, you aint got much TALENT! I get a show stop laugh with the basic old 20th Century Silks. (See my book for my ULTRA SIMPLE (AND ULTRA FUNNY) routine.

I know of a story about a magician doing a cruise ship and he mentioned underwear in his program and was fired.
And also the magician on cruise ships are not allowed to sleep with the passengers. If you do that they drop you and your stuff off at the next port and you pay your own way home.

I agree Dick. Something that really doesn't need to be pointed out, but times have really changed. I wonder if he could get away with it in today's world, other than in an adult only comedy club... Even then, there seems to be a risk of offending someone.

I normally let a "PC correct" thread die, but I can't on this one. I've performed this on many occasions for a boy kid birthday party since my last posting, and when I talk to the parent, this routine, as I perform and described it earlier is (after my bunny production) THE most mentioned routine, and in a favorable way. The birthday child mentions it to the parent, and the parent mentions it as their most favorite. So, to D.O. and all the naysayers, I SAY... it CAN be, IF YOU WORK IT PROPERLY, one of the best parts of your show. That's MY story, and I'm sticking to it!
