Bob Farmers Bammo Monte Monster.
Anyone here who has tried this? I just got it and haven't gotten around to start going through the routine, yet. Bjørn

Hi, Bjorn. I had a sneak peak at this and I'm not sure what you're asking.
Bob Farmer looked at all the versions of (gaffed) Monte and found them lacking. He details why and why his version is better. He's correct. Learn it and fry the spekkies. MAtt Field |

I recently bought it, and I'm now slowly working my way through the routine. I've been using Skinner's Ultimate Monte for a few years, and wondered if anyone here had experience with Bammo Monte Monster.
You seem to have answered my question. Thanks! Bjørn

I've stepped through the whole thing a few times, and am now learning the routine: I'm on phase 3 of 7. It is EVIL! It uses no difficult sleights, and there's absolutley nothing difficult about the routine except remembering all the moves in the correct order.
For those of you who don't know, it's an in-the-hands three card monte, with seven distinct phases, and at the end it's reset, making it perfect for walk-around. When I say seven "distinct" phases, I mean it's not just that the "money card" changes positions: Card swap places, cards flip over, cards change colour, etc... Bob Farmer is a MASTER of well-thought-out audience killers, and this effect ROCKS!

Oh?
I rather liked the Bammo Card Walloper myself. It's no great effect by itself, but as an encore, it can hardly be beat, methinks... Bjørn

Well, I've been working at this slowly, and I'm now through 5 of 7 phases. So far, cards have traded places, cards have flipped over & traded places, and cards have changed from two-red-and-a-black to all black!
How's anyone else making out with "The Monster"?

Hi friends:
I was for searching a demo of this effect on the internet, but I hadn't found anything. Would any of you record yourselves doing this routine and place it on magicvideodepot or a site like that? I would like to see the routine before buying it, since I have a lot of montes, and I don't want to spend my money on nothing new, or nothing really amazing. Thanks in advance. All the best magic, Pablo Tejero

I too, am advancing slowly. I'm at phase 4, going on 5. It's not difficult, but the description is long and very detailed.
As for videoclips, I don't know if there are any. I bought it after reading the ad. Mr Farmer has never disappointed me! I too have collected a lot of gaffed montes thru the years, but "Ultimate 3 Card Monte" and "Pat Page's 3 Card Monte" have been my favourites lately. This may change now... Bjørn

I bought "BMM" last week at the Blackpool Convention in England.
I'm working on it already and I think it's superb!! Having looked and used many different versions of "Monte" over the years I am very impressed with Bob's routining and I think this will be a winner. |

Woo hoo! I got through the entire thing a few times tonight, without having looked at the patter yet, and then did it a couple of times while reading Bob's standard patter. Without the patter, 5.9 to 5.13 (all black) weren't convincing, but, when accompanied by the patter, I'M CONVINCED! I hope to have it ready, using Bob's patter, for a week from next Saturday.
UPDATE Okay, I'm ready and I'll be using Bob Farmer's patter, with a few minor resisions and with a completely re-written final phase. "So, the lesson is this. If you meet a guy in a bar, and he says that all he has to his name is three cards, don't bet a dime, unless you really can be sure there really IS...one black ace...and two red aces."

Dan, the all-black/all-red phases should really be considered one sequence and performed tightly together. That's because the all-black phase cheats more than the all-red phase.
Before the audience has time to fully process whether they actually did see three black cards, they see three red cards in a fan. This isn't a cheat, they can really see three red cards, so this sells that they must have really seen three black cards. |

Thanks, Bob! I have the all-black to all-red down to just a moment!
(Turn all black face down.) "Aha! NOW I bet I can find the BLACK card!" (no pause) "And that's (all red turn face up) how I lost the boat."

Dan did this trick for some of us at the magic shop (Browser's Den). It is a good effect, I like the handling and patter. 7 phases, and they all work well together. I hope they get it in stock there!
Gotta go shop-vac the basement - it flooded. That has nothing to do with the trick.

I have the item and have worked through it. It is a very good trick, however it is not one that you will read and "get" initially. You really need to work through it a few times before the "rhythm" of the piece comes through. It is not a difficult piece, though the instructions might make you feel that way as Bob has left no stone unturned. It looks like the piece is a move marathon, but it isn't. It has a nice structure once you get beyond the early stages of learning. It packs a lot of magic in a very tight space.

As scafidi7 said (who ARE you, scafidi7?), I performed this several times this weekend at our friendly, neighbourhood magic shop (Browser's Den in Toronto). The patter got a little bit more outrageous every time I performed it, and as a result, it was more fun every time! At least for me, Bob's suggested patter leaves a lot of room for me to goof around in the intro, allowing me to inject some of my own personality, and allowing me to condition the spectator(s) to look at my eyes when I look at theirs.
I agree with truthteller that the directions seem lengthy at first, but that the effect actually moves along very quickly. Bob has been 100% clear in his descriptions. Follow them, and you can't miss. Several of the restaurant & walk-around guys said they were defeinitely gonna get this.
