I don't make the assumption that the products offered are actually produced by them (though sometimes they are but sometimes they aren't).

Oh, so is Osterlind Mysteries now primarily not a producer, but just a simple reseller of others' products, like any generic magic dealer? Years of branding should have no effect on how the Osterlind Mysteries name and logo are viewed by an audience?

Come on.

Really, you could've just conceded that given the giant OM logo and Osterlind being the star, this was easily seen as an OM product.

Better to show you understand your customers, rather than chide them for misreading your ad.

Better still to craft your ad so it's hard to misread.

Exactly! But in the arrogant response "It's all clear now" so just move on. Please...

Tim - I do understand how it could be interpreted that way as the majority of our products are produced by Richard and I (there have been a few exceptions). I was merely pointing out that we did mention in the copy that it wasn't our production and that Richard had a co-starring role in it. My intent wasn't to chide anyone.

I appreciate your input, however.

I'm sorry you read arrogance into my post, particularly when none was intended. In Richard's absence from the Café, I'm simply trying to answer any questions about this product and sincerely trying to help inquirers understand exactly what this DVD is and isn't.

My apologies if anything I've said appears otherwise.

Haven't you guys other things to do than all this cavelling?
It was quite clear in the add from the very beginning what this is!

Stop ruining this forum completely before it is too late! (I believe it already is)

I agree. This is what happens when outsiders (not on OM mailing lists) collide with insiders (those on the list/community). The perceptions, expectation and opinions for those that this product may have never been intended is amazing.

Then these same people wonder and can't understand why Richard and so many other pros have left the building. Technically, it's his/their business and they can choose to operate it any what they want. Trust me, his best customers in their community have no problem with any of this.

I ordered my copy on the spot and received it shortly thereafter. I love impromptu mentalism. Thanks to Richard, Burt and Jim for making it available.

Mindpro and Sven, both of you are ridiculous. I'm on the list. Stop being elitist snobs. Youre not in some club that is difficult to get into. Hate to break it to you. These products are available for anyone that has the cash. The ad was confusing, at least a bit.
If people want to sell their products here, they need to at least have courtesy. Calling people "silly" and saying "It's all clear now so just move on." shows a flippant attitude. Similar to when Jim was accusing people of pirating.
Personally, I will never stop, so get used to it boys.

Are you kidding me? They don't "have" to do anything, or be told how to conduct their business from you or anyone else. No elitist at all going on here. As you said anyone can get on their list, so rather than complain, they should do so and be in the loop themselves rather than coming to the Café seeking info. Both Jim and Richard are extremely accessible, there is no need to play games or ask anyone else.

Jim came in here to address the questions and issues, then you complain about how he does it? Crazy!

You may want to go back and read the post. He said "I believe this is all clear for everyone now."

This forum continues to amaze...in all the wrong ways.

I agree with Xiqual. Some here obviously have an "elitist" attitude and think they are above others and have all the correct answers. Instead of being cordial and polite they spout their snobby posts when disagreed with or questioned. I find this a lot more with mentalists than magicians but it's everywhere. For some reason this elitist/snobby attitude falls within a lot of entertainers. It's something that's within each and every one of us to want to be right. Some have more trouble controlling it than others. Coincidently those who have trouble controlling it have even more trouble admitting it.

Sorry for derailing this thread but I commend Xiqual for having the guts to state the obvious.

I'm with Xiqual too. When I used to deal I came across many different types of customer for sure. The typical mentalist trait was to exhibit a superior attitude and backslap colleagues in the flesh while berating them behind their backs. They also like to name drop. I see a similar thing on the Café, many mentalists refer to 'their good friend xxxxx' when they post, even if they are merely acqaintances. I dare say I'll receive some flak for this post but the above is only based on my observation of the majority of mentalists, not all of them!

You may T.G. as I probably will, but believe me when I say a lot more people feel as you do but are afraid to say it here. Hats off to you for being real!

And the Café will still be here regardless of who still comes and visits and who doesn't. Astonishing.

Yes, typical "I'm too good for this place" attitude from a mentalist. Totally supports my hypothesis. Used to hate that attitude as a dealer but had to bite my lip back then. Smile

So what you say is that we should stay here and howl with the wolves?

Thank you, but no thank you.
