Today, a federal judge erased Tom Brady's 4-game suspension for his involvement in the Deflategate scandal.
Thoughts? |

Why does, or should, a federal judge make decisions about what happens in football? Brady's a big whiner baby.

Because the arbitration agreement with the players association permits appeal to the federal courts. That is the case with most arbitration proceedings and hardly unusual.

The deflated balls were in play only the first half. The Patriots scored 28 of their 45 points in the second half. The Colts scored 7 (and had a first half interception). By state law I'm a Green Bay Packer fan, but say the underflated balls had no impact on the outcome of the game.
Also the NFL investigation was laughable, it did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Brady was directly involved.

Agreed but not a Packer fan.
Not sure what standard of proof was necessary.

This is definitely bad news for the Steelers. As a Steelers fan, with Brady in the line up, I predict the Patriots to score 55 against the Steelers this Thursday in the NFL opener.

Well even my evil organization can not seem to help the Bears.

Why didn't the investigation subpoena them?

You got me, Opus. They say he destroyed his cell phone. But does that mean all the phone records also disappear?

What was the big deal with deflategate? Both teams were playing with the same ball, weren't they?
|

No. Each team brings 12 balls to the game. The team on offense uses their ball. It was a rule change a few years back, supposedly backed by Tom Brady on Payton Manning.
After Brady threw an interception in the first half, the Colt player kept the ball as a souvenir and gave it to one of Colt staff to hold onto. The trainer thought the ball felt soft and so brought it to attention of the Refs. They checked the balls at half time. Balls below allowable PSI were inflated. I don't believe the Colts' balls were checked (mmm...that did not sound right!)
