I've been having some problems with the computer for awhile. Trying to get onto certain websites would give me a spinning circle and a "connection timed out." Some times, I would get on a website and would be interrupted by a pop up that offered me prizes for taking a survey. The same page popping up on several websites (e-bay, amazon, facebook, tumblr, etc.) and I began to realize I was victim to some sort of infestation.
I had a couple of virus/malware programs that were supposed to go through the computer and find stuff. Whatever this was, it hid itself really well, the System 8 and Anti-malware programs couldn't see it. Finally I decided desperate times call for desperate measures. I have Windows 10 and so far have had no problems with it. (My wife, on the other hand, had nothing BUT trouble with it, just putting that out there for you.) I went to the Windows icon in the left corner. Clicked on "Settings" Found "Advanced Settings" and IN "Advanced Settings" I found "Restart computer to factory settings." This removed any and all apps I'd added since owning the computer. That kinda shook me, but the computer is running 100 times better AND in rebooting the system, it created a folder on the desktop that reads; "Removed apps." Opening that folder gave me a list of different programs that had been removed. The list was "hot" in that I could click on the name of a program and "Microsoft Edge" (the new browser) would find the program and let me re-download it! Another point. I clicked on what I thought was "Internet Explorer" to REDOWNLOAD Firefox, only to find that the lowercase "e" with a wave in it is actually the icon for "Microsoft Edge," which seems to be working fairly well. As Firefox has developed an animosity towards Flash animations and would crash animations for no reasons, I think I'm going to stick with "Edge" for awhile. Now if I could just find out what happened to my Samsung Centura that computers no longer recognize it as a device!

The only way to fix a sluggish PC I've found is to re-install windows and the programs you want. It's nice that Microsoft is providing as easy way to do this with Windows 10 I guess.

Their spokesman was a model dressed as Charlie Chaplin's "Little Tramp." (Trust me, I'm going somewhere with this) National Lampoon, a satirical magazine did a two page fake ad for the computer. One page showed the Little Tramp and the copy read; "This is the image we want to convey." With a shot on the other page showing Charlie as "The Great Dictator" with the copy; "This is our actual corporate image." While I have nothing against Macs and have worked with them in the past. With what I've read about how Apple is run, I'd just as soon not give them my business. Thanks.

We get the "Pinwheel of Death" more with our Macs than we ever got the spinning wheel with our PCs. Opening programs. Closing programs. Doing nothing.
I can usually clear the cache on my PCs and take care of the problem. Sometimes there is a corrupt piece of software, but not usually. With the Mac, I have tried nearly everything I have found online, but still have the same problems.

I've been on a variety of good and wholesome websites with my PC, which is my way of saying I have seen the face of evil... and it isn't as bad as what I have seen on this toilet we call the Internet. I use Firefox with noscript & addblock plus. I run Antivirus scans with Malwarebytes, and do my cleaning with Ccleaner.
I used to run Spybot S&D, which is good, but got too bloated for me. There is nothing that can slow my PC down but me, I literally have to try to slow it down to do so.

(I can't think of the word right now, not "programs" but something running in the background) also Firefox hates Adobe flash and IT kept crashing on me. I figured, since I've gone up to Windows 10, I clicked on what I thought was Internet Explorer only to find that Microsoft has changed it to Microsoft Edge and it seemed to work pretty well. I used it for a few days, but realized that when I went to Tumblr (don't judge me) I would get the opening screen with NO log in or sign up areas! I decided to try and use Chrome again (which was crashing on me a lot on the old IBM Thinkpad, but that ran XP which was way to old and slow.) and so far it seems to be working well.
