I love squares and have about 10 versions in my collection. This is nowhere near as good as any of them. Harry Anderson's gets my nod with a close second going to Geoff Dunham.

Ive ordered and I'm looking forward to it. I've started doing small stand up shows at the end of my close up shows and I think this would be perfect.

I saw Andi perform this last year while we were both at a convention Spain but I know it's been in development from WAAAAY before then.
I really like it. For me the larger numbers make it seem MORE impossible and anyway, as most magic squares accelerate, they all tend to rely on your audience 'taking it for granted' that in fact the calculations are correct and adding up to the random number - I don't see it as a problem. The more difficult the maths, the better, surely? And, when all's said and done, you're only adding up! I've never been all that interested in magic squares but, when I saw Andi's I thought, here's one I might actually do. I think I'll probably invite the audience to snap the board with their camera phones if they like and thoroughly check all the maths is correct later. They can obviously flip the photo on their phone to check the other number. The double number thing is brilliant too - a great kicker which, to my mind, really raises the impossibility factor. This must have taken an AGE to work out and is a kicker that no one could possibly see coming. Add to that the 'upright' card handling and the 'painting on' of the numbers, Andi's certainly added some new and interesting aspects to the old 'flipchart and marker' presentation. Anyway, not trying to convince anybody of anything but, I genuinely think if magic squares are your thing then, this looks like a very good version to me. Dave.

I guess its a subjective matter but for me 28 is perhaps less impossible than 128 but the spec can at least very quickly follow along as the story unfolds. I guess there are pros and cons

Turning the Magic Square into a card trick, drawing it out, and making the math more complicated for audiences to follow.
I don't get it. This looks terrible. |

Andi just posted a full performance video to his Facebook page so I thought I would share it here. It was recorded at The Session in London last year and you will see the great reactions it received. I would suggest watching the video to the end.
A few notes based on a couple of above posts: - There are four force numbers, and just by coincidence, the same force number is used in both videos. This is the highest force number in the deck. There is a two-digit force number built in too, which you could specifically force if you feel that a two digit number is essential. This would remove the element of freedom from the selection, but if you felt that the three digit number is too high, you can certainly do that. As an aside, Andi explains in detail why these numbers are used on the DVD — he actually wrote a computer program to find the most suitable numbers for the trick! - You will see how Andi handles the second revelation in actual performance. He very quickly talks over the applause to keep things moving. Because of the trust he has already built up during the first phase, the second square does need to be labored over. - On the DVD Andi shares three important tips for involving the audience adding up, including one shared with him by John Carney. Because the trailer is cut quite tight (and as the video below is for magicians, they are not used) these things aren’t shown. But they have been very much considered and are taught in detail. I have seen Andi working on this for the past three years or so. A lot of thought has gone into the hows and whys and it is all on the DVD. Anyway, here is the video. Someone just Tweeted us to say that Barrie Richardson told him that it was the best magic square he had ever seen, which was nice to hear! If you have any questions please let me know. -Kyle

I don't see how killing the climax to prove turn over the board and start all over does anything for the initial effect.
Plus you are already slowed down the trick with picking of cards and putting them in place. To much mechanics with nothing happening. In today's fast paced world, this is not an improvement. As stated, many a great trick has been destroyed by so called improvements. |

This went down well at the session because it's magicians.
This is not a commercial piece, not at all. |

Overall I like this. But I feel the numbers are too high. The audience have to take your word as you add the numbers.
That being said I feel if the two totals were maybe 38 and 67 it would play stronger as they can add the numbers as you go along. |

I know some of my old customers would have paid a fortune to have an exclusive on this. The kicker is phenomenal. I don't understand the negativity on this thread. I guess it's because modern magicians want the trick to do the entertaining for them.

If you don't like this trick then you are mad
as stated by andy in the video there is NO FORCE. Think about this. it's a miracle. |

Is there nothing better you can use to repay them for giving you that time. I don't hate this or anything I just think its made something quite simple fairly complicated, but I wasnt a huge fan of magic squares in the first place. I do like juxtoposition though |
