Sorry Danny, I meant to include a smiley face at the end of that last post. I know you're probably not REALLY a cranky old man. I'm sure you just play one here on the Café.

If Ed is at the Luxor, the closest Houdini's is at the New York New York. The rollercoaster there is a lot of fun, but hard on the shoulders.
My last trip to Vegas I saw P&T. I was a bit disappointed. They did very little I hadn't already seen before. I think stage acts should save a lot of their stuff for the stage: I don't want to pay a bunch of money to see a TV act done live. But everyone's mileage varies, I suppose. But I had a wonderful experience with a go go dancer at the Rio. It's a great story, but needs to be told live over beer, and not over the Internet. Ed, enjoy your trip. You're in Vegas, baby! |

+1 for Ed. Both of you kids have fun. Together.

I thought I posted a huge file on traveling to Vegas. It doesn't seem to be here. I'll repost it later.

Let me see if I can do that again;
3:30 Monday morning to get to the airport by 5:00 at the latest. I think the taxi driver stiffed us a little by turning around to get on the highway, I'm pretty certain there was a highway exit further up that was closer to our house. Get to the airport, none of the coffee shops were open yet. (Not getting Dotti a cup of coffee would be a running gag throughout this flight.) The coffee shops opened the same time we were supposed to board, so THAT didn't happen. Sitting on the flight, a TINY little jet, from the outside it looked like something Tony Stark would use as a private jet! They bring the gurney with drinks about twenty mintues into the flight, it takes at least another 15, 20 minutes to get to us in the BACK of the plane! I get a Coke and order a cup of coffee for Dotti, turns out they have to go BACK to the galley to get coffee!!! They bring her and another customer coffee with cream and sugar. She puts in the creamer and notices that it wasn't very fresh. It was supposed to be a 1 hour flight, but with the tailwind, they got there 10-15 minutes early so Dotti got two sips of coffee before they brought the bag around to collect everyone's cups! We get to Dulles/Washington airport and have to walk the length of the terminal to get to our next flight. Again passing coffee shops but didn't have time to get a decent cup of coffee! Get to where we're supposed to be, they're announcing boarding for our flight and mention that the flight is pretty full and they MIGHT run out of overhead storage. Would 8-10 people be willing to check their overhead luggage? I checked our two and one other guy checked his. Oh well. Second flight, Dulles to Las Vegas was uneventful. We finally got Dotti a cup of decent coffee They don't run movies any more. You're supposed to sign up for a service with your mobile device or laptop, since I didn't get to the terminal in time to download the app for the smart phone, I decided to use my laptop. Loaded up the website (which was very limited, to get REAL Internet service, you have to pay. Dotti tried signing up for her laptop, but couldn't get it to go through. ) I got into the "entertainment" site which was supposed to allow me access to movies and tv shows, but it kept telling me it was losing the signal. After a while, I tried to use the DVD I'd brought from home (50 great movies - $5.00 Walmart) But apparently Windows Media Player doesn't recognize that particular type of DVD ! So I read my Genii magazines that I'd stashed in the back of the computer bag just in case! Finally got to the Luxor (mini-van from the airport, cheaper than taxis!) The next problem was that Dotti's knee keeps her from walking very far and they hadn't delivered the scooter we'd ordered! When we DID get it, it did have the affect of making walking the Strip difficult as you frequently have to cross pedestrian bridges and we'd have to find the elevator up, get across the bridge, and find the elevator back! But we managed with some little difficulty. We made it to the Mirage and the Beatles show with literally five minutes to spare. This upset Dotti because the shop was too crowded AFTER the show for her to manuver (sp) the scooter, but we're going to go back today after her dyalisis (sp). I'll tell you about "Love" in the next post, this one's already getting too big.

Hey, my family's going to Vegas in October. Thought we'd take in a magic show, but the only kid-friendly one is Copperfield, and tickets for that are $$$. Then my son says he doesn't want to see a magic show , because he doesn't want to see anyone cut in half until he knows how it's done. (Like a good magician,I've told him he needs to figure out the big ones himself, though I have taught him some sleight-of-hand.)
Oh well, at least there's a magic shop in the hotel across the street from us.

Actually, I'm pretty certain Mac King is kid-friendly and the show is in the afternoon.
I probably won't get to see him both cost and time are prohibitive, but you might enjoy it.

I saw Mac King perform in Toronto a few years ago, and I must echo the comments of others here. His is a fantastic act. It was certainly kid-friendly, though I seem to recall that there might have been one or two double entendres in it.
