I am going to post this here even though it is not magic but is cups & balls related.

In my quest for more information on my first cups & balls purchase, I found myself creating a cups & balls specification spreadsheet with all the known data in it I could find. I know that it probably was over kill for my single project but I usually over analyze things and this was the result.

I got to thinking that maybe someone else would like this useful information so I offered it to Brian Watson to post on his Cups & Balls Magic website. http://www.cupsandballsmagic.com/ Brian accepted and we are currently discussing some issues on how to do that.

Now the problem:
I have assembled a lot of data here but recognize that there are more cups and balls in existence than I know about. The solution would be for users to be able to add data to the spreadsheet on something not already listed. But how? As I see it, here are the options.

Option 1: Allow users to make online changes to the form but prohibit them from changing existing data. (But how?)
Option 2: Have the user just email the information to Brian or me who in turn would make editing changes and update the web version.
Option 3: ???

Does anyone know how one would put a spreadsheet online but allow for users to add their data to the spreadsheet? Is there any community guidance available for this project? Are there any web designers in our group? It would be really nice if the Magic Café could host files for download.

Inquiring minds want to know.......

Gary, I wonder if Bill Palmer would be able to add it to his existing database in the museum? I wish I could tag him like facebook!

What about using the Cups and Balls page on Wikipedia, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cups_and_balls)?

Hummm, hadn't thought about that avenue.

Gary: You might want to consider Google Sheets. Sheets is the spreadsheet module of what was previously known as "Google Docs" and is now tied into Google Drive. You can create spreadsheets and then share them with whomever you designate. People you share the file(s) with can edit them, within the parameters of the permissions you grant them AFAIK.

Wikipedia is the reason the cups and balls museum is password protected.
