I used to own a coin through table trick that came with a little transparent plastic lid and small circular pad. You'd place a (gaffed) half on top of the pad and under the lid and, with a knack, the coin would appear to vanish. I was going through some old props, and I found the lid and the pad, but who knows where the coin is. Does anyone know what this trick is called?

It sounds like Flipper to me.

Doesn't sound like a flipper to me...

Don't mean to be rude, but just that this is describing a single coin vanishing, not one of two vanishing.
I've not heard of this trick and am greatly intrigued by it.

This sounds like it might be parts of the trick from a long time ago called BLASTED, JR.

The regular BLASTED involved an inverted glass as opposed to the little clear plastic cover.

Julie, I think you're spot on, thanks!

Looks like it was re-released too:

There was also a variation that was similar in that the same basic props are used, but in a slightly (sleightly Smile )different way.
This is RING OF FIRE by Bob Little.

All good tricks.

Actually, I take that back! Blasted isn't quite the same thing as what I have.

The clear plastic lid prop I have is much smaller, sized to just slightly bigger than a half dollar. Without giving too much away, the vanish/appearance uses black art, and I assume Blasted doesn't.

Anyone happen to know the origins of this trick?

Looks like a Bob Solari effect, taught on "Live in Your Living Room". Looks like I happened to purchase a marketed version about 15 years ago. Case closed, thanks!
