For the readers out there....
Do you think that reading Oracle cards get the same respect from the sitter as the tarot? It would seem that people are expecting a Tarot deck if the medium is using cards. I like using both but really enjoy using an Oracle deck. What are your thoughts? Best Ray |

Offer, your participant a choice !
If, I were a reader. What, do the cards say for you to do ?

I think only the people who have actually studied such things would even know the difference. I use a set that is not a Tarot deck but they are called Tarot cards by everyone who has any idea what cartomancy is.
Don't over think it. All that matters is providing a good reading.

Querents come to see the reader, not the cards they use.

I think if you craft a little story about the origins of your cards and their history, they will never want anything else.

In France card reading is more popular than the tarot.
A lot of people out there in "the real world" used 32 bridge playing cards to do "fortune telling". But the tarot has a powerful symbolic impact. ( sorry for my english :p ... I'm French lol ) |

I don't see a need to choose. That is done to the sitter. If they pay they can have whatever reading they want. I've offered Tarot, palmistry, Kadar, cartomancy. I find tarot is usually most popular. Kadar has generated a good number of sales when at venues with other readers as people go for it as they haven't seen it. Often other readers come and pay for a reading to see what there about. Personally I like doing the Tarot most as I love the symbolism and the depth I get reading them.

The cards are as important as you make them to the sitter. Honor whatever system you've decided and they will too...

Q: Why do you use THOSE cards?
A: They speak to me. Shall we begin?

The Witchdoctor hits the point, people don't know the difference and if they do, you will not lose any respect by being a specialist

I have collected quite a few Lenomand decks in the last few years.
I believe that when you are there to read the cards, the majority expect Tarot cards. |

Speaking of Lenormand decks, check out this one on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/for......eseekers

I prefer Tarot because of its symbolic power. Also, there are many more options for Tarot decks, so it's a bit easier to find one that suits you and that isn't too kitschy (unless kitsch is your thing.) I've never been huge on themed decks, and Oracle cards are usually marketed in that direction.
However, I do think it's very important to learn a few other oracles or divination techniques. It broadens your appeal and querent interest!

And it should be noted, regular playing cards (or at least the 32-card "piquet" deck) were used for fortune-telling long before Tarocchi cards ever were.

I use the Tarot and Lenormand. Apply the Lenormand when I see that the answers to the consultant's questions are easier to answer, because I see that Lenormand can give more specific answers. But the Tarot I use to work more nebulous questions where the answers should be more poetic than realistic / specific.
Is difficult to explain in detail what I say. I recommend friends herestudy Tarot and Lenormand Oracle. So understand my words. |

I received two decks of cards from kickstart that I have been waiting on for quite a while.
They are a mixer of both tarot and playing cards. Really a remarkable looking deck. One is black over all and the other has a white color theme. Ray |

I use BOTH a Tarot deck AND an oracle deck for reading. Two decks, one reading. Just a thought.
