Every year around my daughter's birthday time I run a competition.
This year I'm running two. One here and one in the Spooky forum. The Penny prize will be a copy of The Visionary 2.0 http://www.thoughtillusions.com/thevisionary.html But how to win it????? Firstly all answers are to be sent via E mail to: steve@thoughtillusions.com (NOT by PM here on The Café) This is what you have to do..... Make an alphabetical list of Famous people from history one character for each letter of the alphabet. I have also made a list. whoever submits a list closest to mine will be judged the winner. NOTE: I may or may not have left some letters blank. So if you can't come up with a name for a certain letter don't worry. Maybe I couldn't either. Cut off date will be 14th October at Midnight (that's midnight Dutch time) Good luck. Steve |

Is it that time again already? I remember last year's A-Z of Mentalists being quite an eye opening experience.
Are there any pointers on whether the letters refer to first or last names? ie Would Winston Churchill count as a C or a W?

I was going to stipulate that you could use the first name or the last name...BUT you had to keep them all consistent.
So if you used W for Winston you couldn't also use M for Mandela But I thought that was being too restrictive, so I decided to mix first and second names as the Start letter. Steve |

Ok good to know! Interestingly, that's how my list is naturally panning out anyway!

Lists are coming in steadily.
I'm filing them all and not allowing myself to read them until the cut-off day. I also want to be surprised when I compare them to my list and see who's won. Steve |

It surprised me how there seemed to be fewer of the "tough choice" letters in this year's challenge. Last year, the A-Z of mentalists had some really difficult decisions to make.

The winning entry came in an E mail from Andrew Reid.
You didn't include your Magic Café name in the E mail Andrew. I have e mailed you. Thanks for all who took part. Once I've finished what I'm working on I may release my list. For now though it's still under wraps. Steve |

Thanks Steve, I am very pleased to have won The Visionary 2.0. I enjoyed the mental challenge of creating my list.
I'm not sure how many historical names matched your list but I guess having the highest hit rate I can quote the phrase "Great minds think alike..." Andrew |
