What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

No such thing as a tragic Darwin Award, after all the gene pool is served well.

Better be careful. The last time I alluded to this, it was hinted that I lacked empathy for my fellow human beings http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=32

Thanks Starrpower but I lack empathy for those who deserve Darwin Awards. I'm thankful they are no longer contributing to the gene pool. We have enough boneheads on the planet as it is.

Most of the incidents in this click-bait article are simply tragic accidents. Sad that some think they're funny or that these people deserved to die to "improve" the gene pool. It's interesting, though, that NONE of the photos accompanying the stories were taken by the victims as implied by the article's headline.
And Starrpower- in the thread you referred to you clearly stated that those who don't have allergies should not have to cater to or make allowances for those who do have them - even though the allergies being discussed were often life threatening. Yes, that does show a lack of empathy. |

A few dozen Darwin Award contenders described here for the enjoyment of those who like that sort of thing:

I used to find a lot more humor in the Darwin type stuff, but being involved with someone who is very empathetic has had an effect on me, and a positive one, I think. Darwin winners aren't characters in a black comedy. Some of them are stupid people, and some of them are people who did stupid things, but they're still real people...with friends, family members, loved ones who are devastated at their loss and whose lives will never be the same. At the very least, I think you have to go with Rockwall..."Why not both?" Not intended to be preachy...I don't really care what anyone else's take on it is; nothing about anyone's attitude will bring any of these people back (if you wanted to). Just sharing my experience; I'm happier with myself as a result of being involved with someone who is very concerned about people, even those she's never met.

It's noble of you to seek a middle ground here Lobo, but I stand by my original thoughts.

Ok, so the news article is of questionable quality. How true or not the sotries are is anyones guess. It does make me wonder though. I'll bet there are hundreds of selfies taken with guns held at the photographers head. My favorite photo of Criss Angel is just such a photo. If the gun discharged, whether a planned sucide or an accident, there must be many hidous photos out there somewhere.

Personally I have seen death quite up close and personal. I find it difficult to laugh at it myself or call names of those who met it. All probably left people who loved them behind.
That is my personal attitude and anyone is allowed any attitude they wish. I personally have never looked at any accident and thought "had it coming". I just find that tough to do.

Exactly. Just because someone makes a stupid mistake doesn't make his/her death something to laugh at or make fun of.
But, then again, we've already established that there are posters here who completely lack empathy for others. |
