Any good recommendations on gloves for wood work? I'm looking for something with a bit more finesse than your typical thicker work glove. I can't pick up screws easily in with those things and I go back and forth between carrying, cutting, screwing etc. when building sets.
Ideas? Hit me!

I bought some Nitrile Work Gloves that work GREAT!!! They are thin, soft, durable, form fitting and tight. You can easily pick up a dime with them and wood will not slip from your hand because of the Nitrile. I give them 5 stars. I got mine at a local plumbing wholesaler but they probably carry them at Homely Depot and Lowe's. Don't buy your 1st pair on-line. Go to a store and see what fits your needs then find the cheapest vendor on-line. I even use them as shooting gloves.

I've always been told you shouldn't wear gloves when doing any kind of building like that. I suppose it is a case by case thing depending on exactly what tools you use, but sounds pretty scary to me! Same with jewelry, ever heard of 'degloving'? Don't google it if you are squimish..

Wear gloves, you lose the feel. You need to have the feel...Lose the feel, you lose some fingers. Grow some callouses.

It's less about fine work I need the feel for and more about carrying 2x4s around. Thanks for the ideas thus far!

Chris.
Pick a glove that fits and clip the tips out. I have worked in very cold temps with jersy gloves this way. I don't wear them near a table saw. Gimpy

I picked up some mechanics gloves for such work. Not as thick and cumbersome as leather workgloves and they have rubberized fingertips and palms to help grab things.

You can actually suffer less injury by running your hand into a blade or bit than if you get pulled into it because clothing gets caught. It sounds like short cuts are desired here. My opinion is it is best to spend the extra time putting on and taking off gloves for the different tasks as needed. Maybe a pain, but less than the pain of injury. Laziness can lead to bad accidents.
