Bit mystified by some of the comments, this looks like a 'worker' to me. There is so much cr@p coming out that looks like it was created and released all within 5 minutes, by comparison this looks like a well conceived and developed effect. One comment - I would love to see a version with 2 different well known car brands where one was a highly prestige car and the other basically a tin can on wheels as this would naturalise the props more and open up some good gags about swapping cars etc.
Cheers Al

Hi Al- love your idea regarding the car keys. I agree with takeachance on that. I'm sure you can appreciate why I got the ball rolling with something generic - but easy, I hope, to assign some kind of pertinent meaning to. Thanks for your comments and your kindness.
J-Mac! Great to hear from you! I'll look for the note. I hope all is well with you. -Steve

Hi Guys,
I would like to thank Steve for choosing Alakazam Magic as one of his exclusive re-sellers. Personally I love Steve's way of thinking (usually outside the box). Regards Peter |

I quite like the demo. It shows what happens very clearly. It actually makes a change from the set up 'on the street' filmed reactions on demo's that have had money thrown at them. This is an honest demo you would get if you went into a magic shop and the dealer performed it.
I think it's very hard to win, when making a demo. You can spend a fortune, create a piece of theatre, then get accused of hype or deception. Or you can just film a performance, keeping costs as low as possible, and people are unhappy with a 'rushed' demo. 90% of most new demos are not actually about the effect. They set a scene, build anticipation, entertain, then there's a few little parts that show the trick, then lots of people in groups going nuts over it.. Steve's demo cuts that all out and is just an extension of the product description. We could refilm the demo, with myself performing it and putting it into a spectators hands, but that wouldn't show you anything more than the current demo, we could add flashy intros, and some people going nuts as soon as the magic happened, but that's just theatre... The demo is just one part of the information you need to decide if a new trick is right for you. The ad copy tells you far more, and that's right that it does. Your dealer should then answer all your questions about performing the trick. The demo just needs to show you quickly, what the trick does, and if it's the sort of item you want to look more deeply into buying. This is the sort of trick that you know instantly if you can see yourself performing it for people. Does it fit in with your current material? Does it work with your pocket management? Would if suit your persona? You already know the answers to these questions.

The two fobs are justified in the 'story' and presentation you present the effect within. It's two keys that unlock something.. Love and fortune or happiness Vs fame. It's a story about two people perhaps, Maybe a couple? Perhaps a bride and groom.. There's a symbol of love on one fob, and a sign of success on the other... If you are doing corporate, it's quite possible to build in a presentation about loving a product and the success the product or service will give your company. The keys are symbolic of unlocking something, of fixing a problem that the product/service provides. If you are doing this for fun, socially, maybe it's a story about attraction... Perhaps a story about two brothers, both come of age and given the 'key to the door' they both use that freedom in different ways, but learn that to succeed, you need both in your life... etc etc etc Hope this helps Dominic

And I have a feeling the quality of this product is going to be top notch and a great worker for strolling magicians judging by the criteria outlined in the ad. There are so many effects that would simply stink and get no audience reactions without a good presentation. I think presentation makes up 90% of a good performer. Ask any working professional, heck, even a consistent performing hobbyist will tell you that. As far as the demo- you are spot on Dominic. How more real and uncut can you make a demo? You are seeing the bare bones of the effect in action from beginning to end! As far as audience reactions, well someone who has any experience at all with performing whether hobbyist or professional will know immediately if an effect such as FOBULOUS is going to get reactions. I know for ME, this will get killer reactions! RNK

Is there an option to personalise the images? I'm not keen on the designs provided?

Now if the keys themselves were clearly different and they transposed, THAT would be impressive.

Hi, Todsky-
Sorry you are not impressed. This might not be the effect for you. Have a look at Greg Wilson's Freak-key, and you will like it. Can both of these effects be combined? YES. But, I don't see why it would be necessary. The folks I really most want to impress are the lay people I perform for. It's fun to fool magicians too - but professional performers usually don't worry about that. I can promise you that lay people are VERY impressed by this effect. It's commercial, hard-hitting, and is built to last. Meanwhile, I have yet to have anyone, for as long as I have performed this effect, focus on the keys - including the many magicians I have baffled with this trick. Best wishes- -Steve

I agree it would be great to have Aston Martin on one fob and Skoda on the other. They choose which Car they'd like, and unfortunately end up with the banger.

The different car makes would be nice as it would seem more organic and fitting to the key fob idea, maybe Ford vs Chevy theme or what has been mentioned previously. But this intrigues me and seems to have lots of possibilities so I have just placed my order direct from Steve. |
