Nope, sorry. We are all gigging, or with our families. But the shops open again on Monday
Best wishes Dominic

GIGGING is the practice of hunting fish or small game with a gig or similar multi-pronged spear. Commonly harvested wildlife include freshwater suckers, saltwater flounder, and small game, such as frogs. A gig can refer to any long pole which has been tipped with a multi-pronged spear.
(Gigging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Either you Brits spend much of your late November Sundays in the great outdoors running around with spears or perhaps the verb form of gig in the magic sense has one less "G." |

Gig is slang for a musical engagement in which musicians are hired[clarification needed]. Originally coined in the 1920s by jazz musicians,[1] the term, short for the word "engagement", now refers to any aspect of performing such as assisting with performance and attending musical performance. More broadly, the term "gigging" means having paid work, being employed.[1] |

Thanks, Sean. I stand corrected. (I should have known better than to have attempted, even jokingly, to correct the English of those who created the language!)

I received mine today. My initial response was I am disappointed overall for the cost. That may change in time as I master the handling and see how it plays. Fobs appear to be well made and high quality.
However, I have a very real complaint. The photos (a little small, but that is personal taste) should have been over your shoulder, not showing it from the specs view.

Got mine today. Nice work Steve! With regard to the over-the-shoulder vs. straight-on filming, that's true for just about every effect I buy. Unfortunately not many creators go to the trouble of doing that.
Generally though this is simple enough to understand with the straight-on filming. No difficult moves that really require OTS shots in my opinion. Thanks! Jim |

I performed this last night a few times. It was interesting how the reactions were different. By different I mean, the first person, after she opened her hand and saw the star and heart changed places, her eyes got real big and wide eyed and was smiling when she said, "Wait. What. This can't be". The other girl, well let's just say her personality was more electrifying- she went banana's and screamed, "WHAT! NO WAY! That's the coolest thing I have ever seen".
So like other tricks and reactions- it's all dependent upon the spectators personality and interest in the art. But I have had nothing but positive reactions to FOB. RNK

Steve, I've only been working with this "in my hands" rather than the spectator's hands so far. I insist on practicing until I can do any effect second nature. Plus it can be difficult to practice the "in the spectator's hands" version without a spectator! (Not to mention boring too). There are a few spots where I see some potential risk but I can't mention them here. I won't be able to say how well this goes over until I have the opportunity to perform it at some event. But I will let you all know.
Thanks! Jim |

I can tell you that this goes over fantastic in the spectators hands. I usually do it in my hands first and then patter about "wouldn't it be amazing if this could happen in your hands?"

Well, J-Mac, as you know, in your own hands has an astonishing visual kick to it - great way to get started. I look forward to hearing your experiences in the hands of a spectator. Best to you.
RNK - great idea doing it twice like that. I perform it often that way myself. Best to you too.

Richard Busch, the multi-award winning mentalist, wrote this to publish with the Psychic Entertainers Association. Thanks Richard!
FOBULOUS! Quote by Richard Busch Steve Shufton's FOBULOUS! is FABULOUS! This latest effect from Shufton Magic at Shufton.com is a classic transposition in the purest, most direct, least complicated sense. In this case, two keys and their attached fobs change places under impossible conditions, like inside Participants' hands or on a table, right under human noses. Magicians will have an easy to do, anywhere, anytime effect with durable materials that will last indefinitely. But to me, it's much more. Mentalists can work with pure thoughts. Hypnotists can work with perception and hallucination. These presentational possibilities are all present when the two key fobs are in my hands. I've come up with three distinctive routines that closely use every visual detail of Fobulous! So I'm thrilled, because I rarely see new releases that I can actually use. But now, I'm wondering what these two key fobs will do in your hands? Enjoy your adventure and find out for yourself. In the meantime, remember ... FOBULOUS! is FABULOUS! Well, the Busch quote opens up some very interesting directions for this prop, and begins to sway me with his powers of suggestion to... maybe… press the paypal button… but the Canadian dollar is so low… hmmm… hmmm…

Just an update. I worked FOBULOUS tonight at a corporate Christmas party gig and this was another audience favorite! This is becoming another one of my favorite tricks of the year! This is one of those effects that the more you work it, the reactions just keep getting stronger and stronger! Once you work out a good presentation this really becomes a little miracle!
I just love the quality of these props. Typical Shufton, so innocent looking yet so devious! RNK

Just a question do the fobs actually change and are examinable after so they are a very clever James Bond type of gimmick or is it an illusion in the handling and are your hands clean or are you stealing anything away regards Tarik .

Received this yesterday and very impressed. The move sequences as outlined by Steve are squeaky clean. The effect plays just like most copper/silver routines, but the spectator gets to examine/handle everything. If you're looking for a solid strolling opener this is it. With a little thought you could probably tweak the presentation to have a mentalism slant a la James Brown's Cerebral Steal whereby the spectator "thinks" he can remember which fob is where (under pseudo hypnosis) and then reality sets in. The props are extremely well-made. My only criticism is that that the text and photos in the booklet are too small. I wish Steve also included a video tutorial link to see everything in motion. Other than that, I'd give it a 4.9 out of 5 rating.

Todsky - thanks very much. Got your order, and it is on its way - winging to Canada. I'm sure you'll enjoy the reactions you get when you show Fobulous!
RNK- So glad this is one of your favorites. It sounds like you are getting a lot of mileage out of Fobulous at the many gigs you've had lately - just wonderful. Tarik, you seem to be fishing for a solution - I can't blame you. I will tell you this: The fobs are examinable both before and after, after all, they are handed to the spectator in the beginning for a vigorous examination, and they are in the participant's hands at the conclusion - they can examine them all they want, (they examine your hands too!) and they won't find a thing. They see your hands are clean before, during and after the transposition takes place. Is there a very clever gimmick, worthy of James Bond? In my opinion, yes. James Bond should be placing his order any minute now! Is this effect an illusion? Aren't they all? Sorry, I won't reveal the actual method here, but no need. This is an easy-to-do, killer effect! Feel free to write to me any time using my email: steve@shufton.com. Happy to answer questions! Best wishes and thanks to all- -Steve
