Hey Folks!
I am in the process of designing and writing a nightclub act. I have always been a family style stage magician, but wanted to expand my business opportunities a bit. I have--alsewhere here on the Café--recently put out a call looking for a used copy of Wayne's Exchange, which I foind hilariously funny. While I am waiting for a response from someone that might have one for sale, have any of you used this effect? Thoughts, concerns, ideas?

Okay, so I have now purchased Wayne's Exchange brand new from Penguin...while I await delivery, I would like to re-ask my original question...any thoughts or concerns on this effect? I am also going to be looking for a way to "supersize it" in order to use it on a larger stage. Ideas?

Suppressing it is going to be no problem. You can make the prediction any size you like.
I think Wayne has come up with a very good comedic process for this effect. But it seems like good to trot out what I posted on another thread. "Whether it's in good taste is of course going to be dependent on the sensibilities of the performer and audience but that is the case with nearly all comedy"

Agreed. The nice thing is that you can adjust the line of questioning to be either more or less "adult" per your needs and style.
My only problem so far is that I can't the PDF from the DVD to open up so I can print it out.

Basically an iPhone adaptation, I assume?

By the way, I performed this in December (my last "adult only" show) and it went over REALLY well. I have another show that will be in a bar, at the halftime of the singing competition I am judging, and I will use it there, along with "Three Ropes and a Thousand Laughs" which also went over big at the December show. I also just picked up Lightning (Comedy Wrist Tie Escape). If I have that ready by then, I will use it as well.
I will once in a while work in the Mind Reading Orange as well...that always gets good laughs.

It's not an iPhone adaption.
It's an altered presentational angle that allows the performer to remain innocent or clean throughout. It puts whatever 'smuttiness' the effect might be thought to have as a product of the audiences thinking rather than as a product of the performers presentation/actions/words. Apparently Jeff Hobson has been using it very successfully as part of his set in The Illusionists show on Broadway.

Very interesting. In my experience, it plays that way anyways...but, indeed, the suggestive questions could be seen as "over the top" by some. But folks that go to comedy clubs, nightclubs, etc, aren't exactly there to see Billy Graham. LOL
If someone in a nightclub gets offended by a PG-13 remark...they are in the WRONG place!

I recently also bought WE and Sexting. I've not used them yet. I have used Cody fisher's Comedy Book test and it is very similar and get great response to that one every time. As for super sizing .... the board on which you write out your revelation can be whatever size you can effectively handle as mentioned before. I also have 3 Ropes but havent used it yet....but soon.

Just played these effects plus a couple more at a private party the other day...it was literally 20 minutes of non-stop laughter. I am now adding a few more effects to bring my nightclub act to about 45 minutes.
Now to find a nightclub........

This is a great effect. I've done it over 50 times and it always gets a great reaction. Very easy to do and really enables you to concentrate on your performance... I always do it with guys and it gets really big laughs. I've also used Cody Fisher's Comedy Book Test...can't beat that one either. Love it (them) to the moon. You will too.
