Welcome back to another Draven Review! Man did I fall off the planet or what? No I haven’t stopped doing reviews, I just have been busy with Halloween… and man what a month that was! Anyways my haunt adventures put aside for a minute it’s time to dig into another Draven Review. There’s a lot of exciting things to discuss in the next weeks to come so let’s start out with something I think we all know, should love, and certainly can use. The card clip.

Card magicians know that the best way to keep your cards safe and extend the life of your decks then you need to use a card clip, and when it comes to card clips there is no substitute for the Joe Porper clip! So I finally ponyed up the cash to get my first Porper clip and let me tell you… this thing is a beast! There are a few different versions available out there so the one I went with was the Expert at The Card Table book clip. I understand this clip is from an experimental run. Out of a total of 50 possible clips that were made I scored the lucky 33 of 50 one! Lucky numbers aside this beautiful clip is green powder coated on the outside, and the inside is a yellow gold anodized color which upon closer inspection actually turns out to be actual brass! That explains the cost of the clip, brass isn't cheap. This isn't no cheap steal clip guys... this thing is a tank! The card clip is designed to look like a miniature Expert at The Card Table book, and as such the letters are laser etched into the clip making them the same shiny yellow gold color as the inside of the clip. After doing a little research I guess Joe has stepped up his technology because they apparently can etch in more detailed graphics than before! I suspect this is only the first of many more awesome card clips to come.

When I got my clip it came in a small cloth bag and loaded with a standard deck of rider back bikes. Several weeks later, and constant use during The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor Halloween Haunt event thanks in part to the clip, the cards it came with are still crisp, and still feel brand new. There really is no substitute for card clips on the market today. Joe Porper makes the best ones hands down. They can be a little bit on the expensive side, and yes you’re paying for a brand name, but you’re also paying for a product that will last a lifetime with proper care. A Porper clip is a product that looks and performs good, and is precision made. Honestly well worth the $80 dollar investment if you ask me.

Overall I can’t say enough good things about this product. I’ve known about Porper’s clips and his reputation for making fine magic props I just have never owned any of his things before now. I’m glad I finally got around to ordering this clip, and I’ll likely be ordering one or two more too in the near future. Please do yourself a favor and stop beating your card decks up. Order a clip or two and keep the decks you like to perform with in better condition for longer today. You won’t be sorry that you did.

When I give my product scores below I am measuring them on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 Being absolute the worst score possible, and 10 being the absolute best, making a score of five average.

Product Quality: 9
Price is a bit expensive for a card clip but the quality is apparent, and there’s no arguing that they keep my cards crisp and protected.

Overall Quality: 9
There’s no mistaking the quality of the Joe Porper card clip. With new technology, better graphical laser etching abilities, powder coating, anodizing, etc. I suspect this is a start of a new era of creative and attractive looking Porper Clips. Get yours today!
