I'm about to click buy on the monsters of mentalism vol 1 DVD to get the Dead or Alive test. Will I be able to use any pendulum that I make (say a haunted key on a cord) or does this need a specific type of pendulum. Trying to stay away from purchases that lead to other purchases at the moment. Would love to get Trybil but I'm new to pendulum work and want to start with Hilfords DOA test.
And if so, what sources do you recommend for a good pendulum on a budget? |

Also. I forgot to ask, is Hilfords same dead or alive routine that's found on Monsters of Mentalism vol 1 also found in Trybil (Using a single pendulum)?
If so I'll go with that instead. |

Yes any pendulem will work. I don't know bout Trybil. But if you alread know how to do a dead or alive test then I don't reckon you need that dvd if it's the only reason you want to get it.

I was under impression that the pendulum for his test was gaffed. I currently do the living dead test from final curtain (Borodin) with tea light candles. Just looking for a new take.

I just checked the dvd and it is not gaffed.

Upon hearing of the house fire I endured, Bill was kind enough to gift me a copy of his book over the summer. I may be a little biased yet I highly recommend it to you. Lots of great tips, effects and routines, including the write up of Docc's Dead or Alive. Sometimes I prefer to read a routine rather than watch it. That way I can let my own mind play around and figure out what it is supposed to look like for "me" when "I" perform it (not what it looks like when someone else does). You can find TRYBIL on the OE site. Also highly recommended is another great pendulum book, The Swingers Party: Power of the Pendulum by T.C. Tahoe. Between these two books you won't ever leave the house again without a pendulum on you... Direct, simple, deep, effective, personal, mobile, impromptu, it packs small yet plays HUGE. Hope this helps. No gaff. It's worth picking up Docc Hilford's more recent DVD the vaullt which has some more pendulum advice. He also did a doccinar on DOA which you can get through his website.

Thanks, I've decided to go with Trybil and also seek out TC Tahoes book. I have his book, In the Play of Shadows: the Tarot Effect, and I've been using a few routines from that for two years so I'm confident his pendulum material be good.
I'm doing a show on Friday the 13th with a living dead test but don't know if I'll be able to implement the pendulum in time unless I make one. Don't know that I could get one shipped that fast but I'm excited to add a new layer to my repertoire. |

Ok after reading through parts of Trybil after buying online, I'm completely blown away by how simple pendulums are to use. Going to get some supplies to make my own plus a multi later this evening. Only one I'm skeptical of is the hands off, other end of the table, method using a stand but I'm going to try for sure!
Trybil is definitely an expansive take on pendulum work. Enough routines to last me a lifetime. |

They are easy to make. Here are some of mine. I had an article in Freddie Valentine's pendulum book on how to make them and some ideas from my collection.

Nice pendulums! I'm going to run by Hobby Lobby and Michaels today to try to get some chain or cord and maybe try to find a few odd items to put on them.

Question. I'm working on Hilfords DOA test and I'm finding it somewhat illogical to a spectator why I would put the card into a wallet temporarily, only to bring out 4 more and then reintroduce the last one. Why not leave it facedown on the table until the spec mixes them?
Am I overthinking this? The routine in Trybil explains the process very well but doesn't give the spectator an explanation as to why it would go on the wallet only to come right back out. Has anyone tried calling you out on it? Or is it simply a matter of saying "I'm putting this in here for safekeeping so no one can tamper with your card".. |
