Apparently the name "Professor's Nightmare" comes from an old routine with the patter based on Euclid's "things which are equal to the same thing are equal to each other." But that's all I know about it. I could imagine how it went, but that's all.

1. Does anyone know whose routine gave the effect the name "Professor's Nightmare"?
2. Does anyone know the actual patter of this routine?

Thanks

John

Gene Gordon created the Patter for the original Professor Nightmare. It is in his out of print book of routines. Gene Gordon was a magic dealer and magician who marketed many of the popular rope and card trick in the 1950's and 1960's, and Fraidy Cat Rabbit. He also created and sold much of the magic of Hen Fetsch brilliant magic tricks.

David Ginn published Gene Gordon's book, but never reprinted it, it sold very quickly

Thanks Bill. Can you say, at least roughly, how the patter went?

The actual patter for the Professor Nitemare effect, was included with the ropes and instructions, plus the complete patter. When the shop closed, Philip Willmarth, a notible magician purchased the rights, but never marketed the product. At the time several wholesalers quickly brought a version (without patter) to market. I would guess that is why Philip Willmarth never marketed the original product. Phil Willmarth passed away several years ago, and I contacted his wife, but the replied she did not know anything about the products or about Phil's website, and therefore could not sell any the products. To bad when classic magic is lost and not available to future up coming magicians.
