While on our honeymoon in 1994 my wife and I went to Jerry's to buy some of their cards. I had been told that the price was under $2 a deck. The price had risen to something like $2.50 and I asked about it. The sales person told me that some "French guy" had bought thousands of the decks and they had decided that they must be worth more than their previous value. I have about 2 dozen left.

I used to have a couple dozen decks of the original Aarco Club Casinos too but they're gone.

I was just curious, but do the Jerry's Nugget cards come in any other colors? I have only seen a blue deck.

Thanks.

Can anybody direct me to a picture of what the back of these looks like?

One of the members of The Magic Café has made this site. It's an index of playing cards.

What is so great about the Jerry's nugget cards? Why are they worth $25?

There's a deck on Ebay right now. It's up to $41.00 and there's one day left. Let's see how much this one goes for.

I remember when I paid $1 for them. I can almost carve my neck out with a wooden spoon for not having bought like 300 decks. I went back later and I bought some in 99. They were $2 then. (I think Powers may be a little mistaken, though dates are irrelevant to this discussion.) I still have the receipt!!! Ha, I know it's kind of an unhealthy obsession, anyway.

I went back a few months later and they were gone. The lady told them some guy in Europe bought the rest, as I am sure many other people are too. While it was a shrewd and smart move on the man's part, it stiffed the rest of us and forced those of us who have them to carefully choose when it is they will use a deck of "nuggets". I would like to add that the back design is possibly one of the most aesthetic things that man has ever created.

Egads...after looking at these cards, they better bounce, snap, flip and make me coffee in the morning for those kind of prices. It's like buying an ugly girl dinner!

So why are they worth so much?

It seems like everyone who is anyone wants to get some of these cards, but why?

Hmmm...I think I'm thinking too hard.

Well if you say so, that settles the matter.

What kind of finish do these cards have, are they closer to Bikes or Hoyles? Are they thicker or thinner than normal? I would use them for manipulations maybe, but I like to use Bikes or Bee's for effects, because laymen tend to recognize them. I know that Dan and Dave Buck favor them.

You've got to be kidding! I can think of a looooooong list of things I could buy with $121.00 rather than a friggin deck of cards.

That's a really interesting site...ugly cards (Jerry's Nugget) but an interesting site! I'd love to get my hands on some of the old Bicycle decks. Oy! I feel a new collectable obsession knocking at my door.

I think that in ebay you have now an opportunity to have two of them, one red and one blue in the same bid.

I own some of them, and maybe one day I will decide to sell them, but are so beautiful.

To anyone who has dozens of Nugget's lying around, you should sell them on ebay one at a time. hmmmm let's see, if you have 48 decks and sell them for 100 each = $4800, not bad.
