I was playing around with my 3D printer and made this talking board business card holder. The image is on both sides and is best if it is raised from the surface, embossed didn't print correctly. One picture is the box open with a business car inside (the top slides off), the other gives size perspective with a blank business card.
Would you buy one of these? What would you pay? Thanks for any feedback. Click here to view attached image.

I would definitely buy one of these. It is very beautiful, but I am not sure on price.

It's very cool, but since I'm not a professional magician I don't have business cards. But, if it held a deck of cards...
What would it be made in? If plastic, I would pay up to $20 considering it is a boutique item. If wood or metal, a bit more. I love the black. Just a thought...if you invert the letter forms it may double as an impression device. You could actually have a person point to any letter or number, put the box in your pocket, get the impression of the area they touched...and do your favorite bit with a flame and a blister. Could be pretty sweet.

Unfortunately embossing the letters doesn't print cleanly so that is really not an option. I originally wanted them embossed so you could use it with a card with a hole but the poor printing and small size made it impractical.
It so plastic and $20 shipped in conus would be borderline profitable but I wouldn't expect to be able to charge more than that. Maybe I'll print a few and bring them to ECSS and see if there is interest.

Love the look. Does it have to be one color or could the raised letters be white? Maybe letters could be painted if one color plastic is the situation. Looks great. How about a limited edition with a number on the back side? Also agree that as a card box would be desirable.

Weeping', They would need to be painted, for this resolution printing in 2 colors will not work yet. Maybe someday.
For a card box - poker size or Tarot? Just the cards or the cardboard box too? Lettering on one side or both? Lots of options but each takes design time.

I thought it would be cool to have an impression of more than one letter appearing, but the selected letter being one of them. Also, after I posted this, I realized it may be obvious to show the blister after the box was used as the selection device, then put away in a pocket. Having a card to pick the letter from is much smarter. The spectator could even take the card from a deck of similar cards in the box, circle their letter as the performer is putting the box in his pocket, and keep the card. The performer than joins hands with the spectator...uses a lighter or match and reveals a group of letters that includes the letter she thought of. Anyway, I'm convinced there is something here, but it doesn't sound like the technology is there yet. I know that 3D printers have varying degrees of "pen points." I wonder if a finer point could achieve the detail to make an impression device possible?

OK, I had a very limited number of these printed. They are $20 with $5 shipping in the US, no shipping elsewhere for now (sorry).
