I've been working with my ID for a while now but I can't seem to get it smooth and get the deck worked in. Any tips?

I must be lucky. My deck performs very well.
Answer for you would be very light touch when spreading cards? What is your problem anyway? Do your cards come apart to easy or do they stick? |

When you reach to your desired card, use a very light touch. They shouldn't stick anymore.

I prefer to make my own invisible deck cards using roughing spray. There are many other topics in the Café that talk about this, but you can buy roughing spray at any good magic dealer. If you have any specific questions about how to make your own deck, please PM me. I used to have the opposite problem as you, my cards used to "open" too easily, so I made my own deck and it lasts a lot longer and it is great.

My cards don't stick together great, but they stick good enough. I try not to spread the cards too much so I don't flash the FD cards.

Oz,
That is your problem: you are signaling you have something special in your hands. Relax and apply pressure to spread the cards. Light when separating. Practice with the cards every day for a week. With cards 'feel' is as important as the secret. |

Hey I had this problem too! And I still do actually. My first deck was treated too much, says the magician at my local store, so I got another one which is a tad bit better but it still sticks together. So I decided to make my own... but there were suggestions on rubbing the cards together and that kinda broke them in!

I got ID Deck and I only used it once. It's OK, not the best trick in the world. Are there any other tricks you can do with an ID deck?

I wish my ID stuck together. The cards slide all over the place. I guess it's kinda worn out. What's the best option, to buy a new one or buy some spray and re-do my old one?

The best approach, in my opinion, is to rough the cards in the middle, actually about 80% of the card. That way the top and bottom of the card are really easy to spread. Craig Dickson http://wizardcraft.com shared this idea with me. He is one of the really good magic dealers.

Here is a routine that I read somewhere that might get that extra impact from the deck. It requires spectators to think of a card, if one was black and the other red, you were in luck. You could fan the deck to reveal both the selections in your deck. If, however, it was not you simply narrow the selection down to one and perform the effect in the standard fasion.

I always preferred the impact of a Brainwave over Invisible Deck. It is so strong that I only use it occasionally because I feel that if you are able to do it all the time it passes from that weird "is this guy reading my mind?" type of thing to just another trick. Maybe that's why my deck seems to last forever.

That made me laugh too. Not the best trick in the world, no, but very close. This is a very magical effect to the spectator...
Tricks with Invisible Deck...hmm...You could put it back together properly and do Ambitious Card maybe? |

Wow, other tricks...Well, when used in conjunction with a disappearing card case it's a KILLER. I also keep one in my pocket (in both deck colors) to save me if I miss a sleight and can't reveal the correct card. In fact, that sometimes seems more magical to the audience. It's not my fav gaffed deck, but a staple any good card guy should be comfortable with!

Can you explain how you combine the two effects?
