LOL, very nice Fon.
I still however didn't find it at all necessary to dissect another performers actual routine. His performance maybe, but actual methods I think is very unfair. I don't think you'd appreciate it if others started commenting on exact methods for routines in your act. Colin

Pk magic, why don't you be true to your vision, rather than doing DB effect why don't you create your original effect, OR if that's to difficult for you, maybe you can use the plot but with your own twist and method, make the effect your own and yours alone, just a tought! nothing personal

Did anyone else notice that when he took the Wine glass off the spectator and put it on the table directly behind, and when the camera angle changed, the wine glass had dissapeared completly with there being no chance of anyone actually moving it!

That effect can be done without any PSW (although that's another possibility too). In fact, I've been doing a very similar thing for some time before I saw DB "Tractor" effect in which, as in DB's effect, you (or the spec) can also say that there's nothing arranged previously and the spec hasn't written anything down. I don't know if DB's method is the same or not but PSW is not the only way to do it. And the more I see the effect the more I'm convinced that his method has nothing to do with the ones you folks have been commenting here. Anyway, I think that everybody's final goal should be to find his/her own way to do effects which look so clean from the spectator's point of view but using his/her own methods, plots, etc. I'm pretty sure that anybody with a bit of imagination and some knowledge of mentalism could come up with more than one method to do a similar stunt (the funny thing is that his DVD perfomance contains some elements that could explain what I mean. You only need a bit of imagination).
Best wishes, Kamiruaga PS- And yes, I also feel that this post has just turned into discussing another performer's secrets, sometimes quite graphically for an open forum.

I'm not being funny, really, but we seem to now have a group of schoolchildren who have gatecrashed The Café. Maybe it's time to look for a 'different' room.
I would just love to perform before most (not all of course for some have 'the knowledge') of the contributers in here. Beyond a shadow of a doubt they are greener than any lay audience. I sometime find it hard to believe how 'mentalists' could possibly fall for what 'Stephen Long' called such "pseudo-explanations". But then of course I am reminded that most of the contributers in here are in fact young magicians trying to be mentalists. And there's nothing wrong with that, except that it's slowly driving me crazy!!! Having said that I know that Derren is certainly a 'lurker' in here, although he would never lower himself to comment (his words). Bobser ("It's a puppet for f***s sake!")

Yah, dual reality might be a way to accomplish this effect. but I would like to be able to use a close up version of this effect, possibly for walkaround.

Why does no one use the inner thoughts section to discuss these supposes methods? I mean seriously, if your so intent on figureing out how it's done, wouldn't it be best to use the proper section provoided to us. If a member of the public types in tractor effect or Derren abd Tractor they are given this site as an option, so now they can read the idea's of how it's done.

It was during Senseà Brown's Deutch, umm, what'd it get called, "lecture"? That I first became aware of the dual reality principle, in terms of performance.
To this day I think it is the single greatest magic effect, because it sums up what magic should be to me: Even someone who, in some people's eyes, becomes a stooge, goes away with a feeling of elation, even if they are receiving a quite different effect. The linguistic acrobatics involved are breathtaking, looking back on that first performance; it's what interested me in what we loosely define as "Mentalism*" *And it's still getting looser |
