Doomos version is hands down superior to this one. It is more interesting and there is no "later introduction" of props.
Very bad in lacking of motivation and it creates a suspicious area for the specs in that you may have to return to your pocket to get another prediction envelope. At this point the GIG is up!! This is NOT what is shown on the video, not even implied. If I saw this on the vid I certainly would not have paid. Would not use this. If you want the best version of flipping coins etc then doomos is the one to get. Parking space. I watched doomo demo this in front of me so I was happy with what I witnessed. |

Barts,
Thanks for the info. I went through it twice. I did say that I skipped through a few parts, so perhaps I did miss that. I thought I made that clear. Most items I go through "cover to cover", but sometimes I don't. I bet you can't say that you have gone through every single product word for word, every single word. Am I right? If so, then perhaps you have been a bit "... café like" as well, whatever that means. KJ |

OK, I watched the video all the way through. The method for handling the 25% is ... well, not so strong. Any time you go into your pocket for a "prediction", after the fact, it really can ruin the effect. You could have pulled a prediction from any pocket.
Having said that, I like the effect as it applies to the 75%. I have come up with a way to do the effect that eliminates the 25% and allows you to only have to carry the envelope in your wallet, borrowing the coins. I also really love the premise and the patter. If you are interested, and you can demonstrate that you own the effect, PM me and I'll share it. I can't share it here as it might give away secrets. BTW, I will be out of town the rest of the week and not checking PMs. I'll try to respond next Monday.

You don't even need to carry coins. You can use imaginary coins. Better yet.

Yes, John, great idea!
I have tried this a couple times now and it went really well. The thing that I like about actual quarters is I can go into one of a few coin routines I do with borrowed quarters. I do either a single coin vanish/production that plays much better with a borrowed coin, or a three fly with three ungimmicked quarters. I have just added this to my wallet as a "go to effect". I have seen literally thousands of effects over the years, and I just have a few items in my every day wallet in case someone asks to see something. I now have this as well. Given that, I would say I highly recommend this now that I have given it some thought to make it "work for me". KJ |

For that last 25% why not just a slide a $5 bill in the envelope and use it in the presentation... "I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is... if I'm wrong... you win this $5."
On the inside of the $5 (you bring it out of the envelope folded over once) is the "work" If that result comes up.... you never go back in the envelope for the slip and use the bill to reveal. If it doesn't... pocket the $5 or just slip in back in the envelope. "Looks like I get to keep this...." Reveal. |

Smn I really like that idea.
I was thinking of using Dee Christopher's reveal for the 75%.The last 25% is on the back of the envelope using a method that Max Maven has used with an image of a coin. |

I thought I should let you know before you waste half an hour clicking through the video trying to find a switch. My opinion on the trick is 75% of the time it is really good, the other 25% of the time it's not (although I am pretty sure most of the people on the Café can come up with a good alternate ending for this scenario). Although I understood the method after giving it a thought, I think 5 dollars was worth the price for all the subtleties included. I can imagine that most experienced magicians/mentalists would not be happy to spend 10 dollars on this one, but for 5 dollars the trick was worth the money. I do think though that this trick would be a pretty good value for beginners since it helps them to get comfortable with some basic principles in a simple way. |

Neoinwonderland,
I don't want to get into a p****** contest, but you say potahto and I say potato. 25% of the time, a separate envelope needs to come out with the "prediction". If the prediction has to come out after the selections are made, that is not strong magic. the point here is to avoid the 25% and the need to go for a second prop as a revelation, whether you call it a switch or not. Snm's idea with the fiver is fantastic. ...Reminds me of other effects in which the reveal is displayed from other props that have been in view the whole time.
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

Where does one buy Parking Space? I didn't see it on Tony's site. I bought the download to see the placement handling and worked out my own manner to eliminate extra things. Thanks in advance.

Pocket Space Plus is a completely different trick! Nothing like Triple Flip or Parking Space.

I just watched Dee Christopher's fantastic Penguin Live lecture and I have to say his Falling Coins routine is far superior to Triple Flip and is the way to go with sort of routine.

Dee's routine is presented as more about influencing the objects while Rick's is a straight prediction (though I suooise you could adjust your own patter for either). The reveal is just more direct and clever. Rick's version has an added kicker where you predict the positions where the coins fall, but I don't think that really adds anything and is pretty transparent. Also in Rick's version, depending on the outcome, there are more outs or "props" in play. Don't get me wrong, Rick is one of my favorite creators, but this is not one of his better releases. These other routines/methods were released well before Triple Flip, and this just doesn't improve on them, IMO. |
