Hey Guys and Gals,
I have become frustrated in the look for kids magic. I love some of the great effects out there, but I feel they are in need for a more modern look. Some of the props out there look like props from the 50's and 60's. Do you have any good sources for some modern looking magic. One of my current favorites is Kandu Magic, and I have bought a couple of things from Jef Eaton that look and work great. And in process of posting this also found Imagin-If Magic. Do you have any other good sources? |

For inspiration, look at all the cartoons and television shows for kids.
Most characters are brightly colored. Most backdrops and scenery is also brightly colored. There are no Sesame Street puppets or children's characters that are made from grey carpet. Adults might appreciate well made wood props but kids are kids, they would rather watch brightly colored objects. They are not jaded yet. Look at your avatar. You are displaying a colorful red ball. Do you think kids would prefer to watch a rusty looking steel piece of scrap metal instead? Even the new-style circuses (without the over the top makeup) still have colorful costumes.

Jay is right in his points.
Look at these guys from the UK: http://www.razamatazzmagic.com/magicshop_001/index.php They have spent a lot of time and effort with the look of their effects, and it is bright, kid friendly and modern. Highly recommended.

"but kids are kids, they would rather watch brightly colored objects."
That was exactly my point, the things are colored fine, some of the stuff that is out there, such as forgetful freddy for example, just needed an updated look. To look more like kids dress these days or magic that was more relevant to kids these days. Here is great example of an updated forgetful freddy http://www.smmagic.com/?p=539 Thanks Jay for the Link |
