Does anyone know where Al Schneider's Matrix was
first published? And perhaps where it was republished later? Thanks. |

Al is a scholarly fellow and has a website with all kinds of information for you:
http://www.worldmagiccenter.com/ quick update: I just looked on the site again and did a web search. The history appears in an article in Feb 2000 Genii Magazine. Did NOT find the history you seek in the site or easily online. Tragic. Will seek citation and post on this later. Wow.

I purchased Matix in 3-9-75. It was 1st published on orange card stock with photo sheets. Years later it appeared in booklet form.
I have a note that it appeared in the Nov. 1970 Genii Magazine previous to this. Schneider is the only publisher of his effect. There are other versions that are basically a handling of showing the cards on both sides during the effect. The original is more direct. |

You must not have seen Shoot Ogowa's handlings if the only difference you are aware of are showing both sides of the cards. Not to mention Armondo.

I have performed many versions of matrix with and without cards. And the best reaction I have had is with the original Schneider version. And it is the more direct and simplest to perform I think.Andy

It is true that the first manuscript released was self-published by Al and is indeed the orange card stock. I may have one of those lying around here someplace.
He eventually republished it in a slick cover book form later. I designed the cover for that edition and did a good deal of the typing and pasteup on it. (The days before desktop publishing). It was serialized in Genii as stated above. The earliest may have been in a one man parade but I'm not sure about that one. Currently he is releasing some of his classic out of print books as e-books as well as some new material.

There is no authorized e-book version of this. What you are buying is a pirated version.

Quote: If the e-book that Trickshop.com is selling uses the photos that are on the web site, it is NOT the original Al Schneider version of Matrix.

Find the original and purchase it. You may have to purchase it from Al Schneider, himself. It's the right thing to do. Writers, authors and publishers make pitifully small amounts of money from their work. And they do so much to help you learn your favorite tricks.
