Girls like footballers but do not necessarily like football.
Similarly girls like magicians but do not necessarily like magic tricks. go figure... |

Walk up. Talk. Hope you don't do something stupid. Befriend them or at least form some sort of connection with them. Then, in an actual conversation, perform in a way that you don't look like a stalker. CAM by Mark Elsdon is fantastic. Also, I believe I read somewhere that if your focus is not the entertainment and benefit of your audience, you're going to end up performing poorly presented mental magic.
However, this is all IMHO as an avid amateur. So I could be, and probably am, wrong.
When the reading gets tough, the tough get reading.
Also- if I have somehow offended you, no offense was meant, I probably just forgot how to English. |

Pick 'em up? I'm too old and out of shape. Women do like artists...but, well its the art that is important right?

Please don't rely on doing this. True Mentalism can be seductive if the persona behind it fits but remember - mentalism is about the spectators. I wouldn't try doing this for a first impression for the mere fact that this can scare the living hell out of some people. I hate to see a respectful art such as mentalism be used and abused like this but if it must be done - remember you have to have the persona and don't make a habit of doing it all the time in this manner I won't say there is no room in mentalism for this but use it with care and respect.

Get them to associate into a memory in the past where they had their first kiss or real emotional connection. Get them to relive it in their mind and write down the name of the person. Then take them by the hand look into their eyes and reveal the name of the person after a few moments of holding their hand. Smile gently. Now your smile eyes and voice will be associated with that mental/emotiona state.
Go on to do readings using their palm and your physical touch.... describe mental emotional states you want to elicit and link them to you by squeezing their hand gently looking into their eyes and smiling. |

That's a very clever answer
The best way, I believe, is not to judge the person, listen to her/him, be kind and speak about our commun points. Except for the last point, it happens to be precisely how Penn (Penn and Teller) describe cold reading : we should be able to do that as mentalists |

I find it strange that several posters think that its wrong to use mentalism to engage a girl because its deceitful and manipulative but its ok to do it professionally. I may have missed the point here, I often do.
I have never seen any tricks that make a girl do something she doesn't want to do. But entertaining people, engaging fun and curiosity, and being the center of attention has often got people to like and take an interest in me, a stranger , who they may not have bothered with otherwise. I don't think anybody believes if someone does a mind reading trick that girls will fall into bed with them and then be horrified to discover he has lead under his fingernail. |

Yes, theres a huge difference. You're being hired to entertain, not try and get in someone's pants. If it happens as a by product, like a guitarist in a band might get offers after a gig.

Here GaduJadu, I'll help. Brother Shadow's "Casting Stones of Bilitis." It's HARD TO FIND, but it does the job...at least that's what Brother Shadow attested.

As a shameless plug without endorsing this thread... my SvenPads may be helpful lol.
Personally I think the idea of using mentalism strictly to MEET women is tacky - but I do think that as a performer it can be perfectly OK to have some innocent fun with a group of women (in the right setting and for the right group) and be on the edge a bit. Taken from my FaceBook product page which I posted today: Let me also share a really fun (and slightly naughty!) idea I have been using for some time now with the SvenPad. I even made a slightly naughty SvenPad labeled on the outside "Cosmo Magazine's 50 Bucket List Places To Fool Around" I ONLY do this routine for light-hearted groups (usually women - I always forewarn them that it will be a little naughty... and is that ok?). 99% of the time - they say YES it is OK (with enthusiasm). Also note the LABEL I apply to the front of the pad. I use a Seiko label printer but I think these labels are great for theming your SvenPads no matter what they are used for... and help to know which is which in your bag. The force is "In A Pool Of Jello" which makes for some very funny revelations. I get the colors - the motion (ok, jiggling), the # of letters - a diving board (the pool). I ask them if they've ever tried this? NO!!! they usually scream. You can get all the non force ideas (craziest places to fool around) with a google search. I talk about how guys love to look at Cosmo Magazine at the check out stand - always crazy things in that magazine. Then I take out the SvenPad and thumb through many of the choices that women all over the world voted on as their fantasy places to play (On a ride at Disneyland, in a haunted house, in a coffin, on a pile of money, etc). This might be too spicy for your taste but... man does it get great and fun reactions! I do NOT recommend this for conservative groups lol. Click here to view attached image.

He's obviously been reading materials in the PUA community, which tells you (correctly) that in order for a woman to be attracted to you, you have to show what they term DHV (demonstration of higher value). This is simply some quality or accomplishment that sets you apart from the rest of the dog pack. Some guys play football, some guys play in rock bands, some guys drive Ferraris...and some become mentalists and performers. Deep down, whether you want to admit it or not part of the reason you got into mentalism wasy to get girls, or more obliquely to increase your reproductive choices. Everything men do is to get girls. It's the motivation that drives us to split atoms, and cure diseases and slay dragons and move heavy objects to the attic and get into fistfights over a damsel's honor. If you're out in a bar you don't have any way of conveying how wonderful you are without sounding needy and bragging, so you need a shortcut. OP has chosen mentalism as his shortcut. To those who say he's "tacky" and say that all he needs to do is walk up to a girl and talk, just doing that shows confidence, which is... a Demonstration of Higher Value. Is having confidence more legitimate than doing mentalism? Judging by this thread most will say "yes," but the answer is "no". Some guys are naturals with girls but most are not, to varying degrees. Similarly, some guys are natural salesmen, and some need seminars and various "insider" techniques to land the deal. Is the sale the natural salesman makes more legitimate than the sale made by the guy who had to go to seminars? They both "exploit" the same chinks in the psychological armor, the difference is that the natural is unaware of it, and feels that the guys who goes to seminars is inferior ("tacky?"). Impressing girls, whether with bold confidence, or as a mentalist performer, or as a one on one mentalist in a bar is reproductively equivalent. We're all trying to get the to the Holy Land, and there's more than one way to get there. |

As a happily married guy for over 24 years I can say that at this stage meeting girls is not the priority - but entertaining clients and earning repeat business is.
Any type of performer or artist (musician, chef, etc) can use their skills for meeting people or entertaining them... or both.

Even once into the art, it was never ever even a thought, sorry. Same for those that you often hear say "I was an outcast, a misfit until I discovered..." Maybe for some, but not for most I know. We saw something, were impacted or perhaps even blown away and knew instantly that we wanted to be able to perform it - plain and simple, nothing more. Not to mention if he is studying PUA, them it would seem much of what's been said here is likely to be true. The fact that PUA is of interest to him says something itself. |
