"Earlier today, I used a Dry Erase marker to write something on the back of a few cards...."
Problem solved. The effect/trick is great. Cards are beautiful. Method is perfect. My 2 cents.... |

Wife gave this to me for Christmas this morning. By mid day I perfumed it in our living room for a friend with family and friends watching. These are people who see me perform magic all the time. They were floored by it. I will absolutely be taking this with me to perform in my restaurants next week. Phenomenal effect Rick has put together here. I highly recommend it!

For those spooky leaning types this tarot deck is satan sent.
I love it. Rick Lax has made it very easy to stop a room in its tracks. Highest recommendation I have. I definitely want this deck without pre-markings and then some crazy personalized stuff can happen. |

I also just opened this as a Christmas gift. Wow, this is really cool. Here is my idea.I plan to scan the "cheat sheet" on the box. I will print that out and glue to an index card (trimmed to fit in the box). This is where Psypher comes in. I will have the person think of somebody from their past, present, or future and write the name down secretly. I will then do the normal routine (taking out the cheat sheet and openly placing on table). I will relate the reading to that "unknown" person. After the reading and by-play, I will reveal the person. This will be really strong. The Psypher card routine has always been strong, but the cards didn't really fit with the effect. This ties it all together and makes sense. This is as strong as it gets.

I ordered my copy and I really like the explanation video.
Unfortunately Penguin has no "linked items" system so I will have to wait a few months till I can perform it, because of course I did not order any of the stuff needed to replicate the deck for myself. Another case in which I wished I had known the method before I bought it. : |

Don't know if anybody has suggested this, yet, or if it's part of the instructions, but if you want to get around the "who would write on the cards?" problem, you could just make that the whole presentation.
"I bought these tarot cards for cheap from a sidewalk vendor—tarot cards are actually really expensive, so I thought I was getting a good deal—but when I opened them up, look what I found. They're ruined. Somebody wrote on the back of three of them. But now I wonder..." Then proceed according to taste. "This is going to sound crazy but maybe I was meant to find them. Meant to find you." Or, if you're a magician throwing this into your strolling set for texture, "but then I thought, 'I'm a magician, maybe I can use this... maybe it even means something!'" Etc. This thing of writing on tarot cards really seems over the top. Even for readers of the cards, this particular trick makes sense. If you're going to be that serious, you wouldn't even need a deck. My grandmother used tarots and read tea leaves for years. After all, the backs really are academic. Not trying to start a fuss just seems really silly.

I have this trick. I could say that the card are very very beautiful and the handling (as someone said) is amazing. I really enjoy showing them. I've done the trick a couple of time. I think that the problem of belief is in second plane if you take the "reading" in a funny way. Obviously there could be some chances to meet a strong believer with some real profound life problem and so I think that the performer must always rely on very positive feeling doing this trick. I think that predicting a good future is always a good thing but I understand who brings to the surface this problem, is a very complicated topic.
Back to us, I have had amazing reaction to this and, for the way I have performed it, the main reactions was on the final predictions. I agree with Steven Conner with the fact that writing on the card is not a real problem and I found very nice the tavisb idea of the low-priced card. I had the same idea as TuneHV, the one of the dry erase marker, and it worked great. In conclusion I think that this is a very nice trick, with beautiful cards with a special consideration of performing it in a relaxed mood. |

... and Christian is very responsive. Sent him an eMail @1 pm last week and immediately got a reply. So no need to wait for months ;-)
Apart from that, I don't see an issue using the cards as delivered in Germany ... All the best M. Quote:
