But what I see as trolling others see as lively discussion. It's up to individuals as to who the feel they can benefit from interaction with and those who the consider trolls.

Imagic,

I have written a few replies and deleted them before posting as well. I seems to let me vent and is more satisfying in the long run because I don't have to listen to their stupid replies LOL.

One man's troll is another man's comedic foil.

No, I'm not.

I must have missed something here.

I asked a question of NYCT.

I'm not sure I follow your answer to my question to him.

(Disclaimer: I took one Norco tablet before physical therapy late this afternoon, and another when I got home about two hours ago. I may not be in any shape to follow any answers.)

I thought you were "trolling" for a goof.

If you want to troll for a goof, mention Houdini or Stock Market.

No, I mistook S2000magician's question to you as directed to a previous comment I had made ...

With the fear of being labeled a troll, I humbly submit the following suggestion to this enlightened conversation."

List what trolls do. Here is a start.

Constantly refer to books others do not have and never will.
When challenged, announce we must share and everyone's opinion is important.
Make a statement without backing it up.
Compliment another poster before ripping him a new one.
Make super claims about how great one is and never posting a clip of self.
Saying, "Well it works for me."
Go on for 10 paragraphs without saying anything.
After posting a clip, a troll will say, "That was good but you should see so and so's'"

So there you have it. Please relate any of these anyone feels do not apply to trolls.
And now, let the trolls feed.
Magic Al. Say it fast and it is magical.

"well, it works for me." Can be a trollish cop out, but can also be the truth. In many threads here I see discussions of various techniques that develop into arguments...some claiming it's a stupid idea, and others claiming that it works for them. Tied dyes spangled shirts would look oddly out of place on me, but worked great for Doug Henning.

I do enjoy seeing folks caveat their posts with "Of course, your mileage may vary." Seems like such a polite way of putting it...

What does “Compliment another poster before ripping him a new one” mean?

Down South they'd tack on "bless your heart" and that then makes it okay...so it'd be

That Tommy's so nice, but he's a bit of a pain in the ***! Bless his heart.
